More than anything else, Jessa's silence was telling and the sixth year's shoulders slouched more as his hands slid into his pockets. It was taking everything in him right now not to spiral out of control, though his thoughts almost immediately wandered from one extreme to the other. Namely on result: his, Derf's actions, somehow getting the man fired. All of Slytherin would hate him, surely, if they were to find out. And somehow he didn't reckon the Headmaster was the sort to keep snitches quiet. More the sort to boldly proclaim who it was who had converted and whatever. Only Derf HADN'T. He didn't WANT to. It felt like Hogwarts was going from one extreme to the other and there was enough stress to give him emotional whiplash.
He felt the need to explain himself, perhaps even defend his actions somehow...but they were soon interrupted by the new History of Magic professor. And his stomach instantly knotted.

"Yeah, it's like Jessa said," he nodded through grit teeth, the corners of his mouth twitching upwards unnaturally into a forced smile. Tooooootally calm and collected here. "He told us prefects specifically that we could leave because of the rule breaking and to collect our homework assignment the bulletin board outside his office as usual."
