Fashion Charm of the Month: The Embroidery Charm
September, 2096
by:Nomi Caplan

In today's world Witches and Wizards are busier than ever. With work, social lives, children, bills, pets, and other things it is no wonder that we begin to neglect ourselves, but one place we should never ever neglect is fashion. No dear readers fashion can be done simply and is very easy to keep. I will be bringing you the latest in the fashion charms every month in this new piece here at the Daily Prophet.

The first charm that we will be talking about is something that will take you from flab to fab.

Embroidery is a beautiful way of creating a picture for yourself or your loved ones. It allows for imagination to run free. The design of the embroidered piece will be a black cat with a lovely collar and a cute wizarding cloak. Note that this embroidery can be done on an item of clothing such as a jacket, wizarding robes etc.

To create a stunning piece of embroidery you will need the following items:
Yarn/wool of various colours (black, yellow, silver, green and red will be used for this design)
Quilting Cotton for the canvas
Your wand
The incantations “Locomotor necto” (Embroidery Charm), “Reneo” (Unravelling Charm – Great for undoing any mistakes), “Finite” (When you’re done with the piece of wool/yarn you’re currently using) and “Ora” to frame your work.
Quill and parchment to help design your masterpiece

Step 1: Gather your equipment. Get your quill and parchment and take your time to draw a detailed design. Include every aspect of your final piece such as markings, collar design. The more realistic, the better.

Step 2. Once you are happy with your design, it is time to begin. Concentrate on your design and grab your black wool/yarn. Point your wand at the wool/yarn and move it towards your canvas in the shape of a black cat that is curled up whilst saying, “Locomotor necto”. Continue doing so until the cat’s fur is filled in. Point your wand at the canvas and say, “Finite”.

Step 3: For the cat’s eyes, green wool/yarn will be used. Aim your wand tip where the cat’s eyes would be located and say, “Locomotor necto” as you move your wand in the shape of a cat’s eyes. Point your wand at the canvas and say, “Finite”. For the cat’s pupils, use black wool/yarn and perform the Embroidery Charm at the centre of each eye, ensuring your wand movement is that of a small oval-like shape like a slit. Then say, “Finite.”

Step 4: Now for the cat’s whiskers and nose which will be silver in this instance. For the whiskers, move your wand in small, quick strokes on each side of the cat’s face while saying “Locomotor necto” (three per side should do the trick). Then cast, “Finite” and move your wand to the middle of the feline’s face, where its nose would be and as you move your wand in an upside-down triangle, perform the Embroidery Charm. Once again, perform “Finite.”

Step 5: For the collar, simply point your wand at the red wool/yarn and then move it so it sits a bit below the cat’s neckline just like a necklace. Complete that part by saying, “Finite”.

Step 6: Now, the cloak is optional, but I decided on adding this detail because of the magical affinity with black cats. I’m using yellow, but you can select any colour you like. Point your wand at your wool/yarn and then aim it just behind the cat’s neck (opposite to where the collar is) and move it in the shape of a small cloak and then filling the colour of the cloak in so it is a solidly-coloured object. Next, say, “Finite.”

Step 7: Frame your masterpiece by aiming your wand a couple of millimetres outside your canvas and as you move your wand in the shape of a square (like a picture frame) say, “Ora”, followed by “Finite”.

If you follow my steps you will have now mastered the charm and have found the best way to bring fashion to any old clothing. Now go out and show the world what an amazing fashion statement you are.
