Post Harry Potter: A History of Magic NYC exhibit tickets available April 26, doc on CW

Tickets for the U.S. leg of the Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibit, set at the New-York Historical Society in New York City from October 5, 2018–January 27, 2019, will be available to the public starting April 26th.

The exhibit comes to the United States as part of the 20th anniversary celebratory release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. J.K. Rowling's first novel was published back in September 1998. Tickets will be available at the links below.

Additionally, the hour-long Harry Potter: A History of Magic documentary, highlighting some of the historic pieces added to the exhibit, will air in the U.S. on Wednesday, April 11th on the CW network. The doc also includes new interview snippets with J.K. Rowling.

The New-York Historical Society announced today that tickets for Harry Potter: A History of Magic, a British Library exhibition, will go on sale to the general public on April 26. The exhibition—the most successful showcase of all time at the British Library in London—will be on view at New-York Historical October 5, 2018–January 27, 2019. Tickets can be purchased at harrypotter.nyhistory.org beginning at 12 pm EDT on April 26.

Capturing the traditions of folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories, Harry Potter: A History of Magic combines century-old treasures including rare books, manuscripts, and magical objects from the collections of the British Library and New-York Historical Society, with original material from Harry Potter publisher Scholastic and J.K. Rowling’s own archives. From medieval descriptions of dragons and griffins, to the origins of the sorcerer’s stone, visitors can explore the subjects studied at Hogwarts and see original drafts and drawings by J.K. Rowling as well as Harry Potter illustrator Jim Kay.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the U.S. publication of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, New-York Historical will display illustrator Brian Selznick’s artwork that will appear on the covers of the Harry Potter series to be published by Scholastic later this year. Also on view to the public for the first time will be Mary GrandPré’s illustrations created for Scholastic’s original editions of the novels. Costumes and set models from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which opens on Broadway in April, will be showcased in the exhibition.

Complementing the exhibition throughout its run will be a host of engaging and interactive activities sure to delight Harry Potter fans of all ages. Tickets for monthly fun trivia nights, which will put fans’ knowledge of the Wizarding World to the test, will be on sale on April 26 as well. Additional family and adult programs will be unveiled in the coming months.

Timed-entry tickets for the exhibition Harry Potter: A History of Magic are $21 for adults, $16 for seniors (65+), $13 for students, $6 for kids ages 5–13, and free for children ages 0–4; tickets include admission to the rest of the Museum. Harry Potter: A History of Magic will be open to the public Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday 10 am–6 pm, Friday 10 am–9 pm, and Sunday 10 am–5 pm from October 5, 2018–January 27, 2019.
