Hate to say it, but she was ready to be back at Hogwarts.

The summer had thrown one too many curve balls at her and suffice to say she preferred the predictability of the castle--chaos and all. Four Years at the castle, Jessa knew how to navigate her way around creatures and curses and homework and devastating lessons. The outside was different, simply for the fact it could throw a wider range of things at you that were far less expected.

Yes, the castle and her lab were much preferred. At the same time, she'd miss all that down time she got with her family and didn't think she was ready for THIS. Not yet in uniform, the Ravenclaw badge remained tucked away in her pocket--her Dad said she didn't have to overwhelm herself with it all at once and she was all for the advice. On the way here a pair of Third Years were shoving at each other and she'd done herself the favour of walking away. Before this leadership meeting, before she got into her Ravenclaw robes and attached the badge, she was off duty. Compartmentalizing like this was just about the only way to ensure she didn't lead herself into another spiral and with the shelter of Cambridge Manor no longer an option, spiraling itself was no longer allowed. That was what summer was for. New term meant a new approach, even if she had to fake it til it became real.

"Hey guys." This wasn't so bad was what she was telling herself as she slid the door open to the compartment she'd never spared a thought to once before this term. It wasn't a compartment of strangers. She knew these people. The rising level of restlessness was uncalled for. She saw these guys on a daily and had every day since she'd started at the castle with the exception of holidays. This was no big deal.

Jessa shuffled in, coming to a stop by Derf and giving him a small greeting nudge. The Fifth Year didn't bat an eyelash at Flynn's presence but it had more to do with years of learning to give very little reaction than an actual lack of surprise. "What's on the agenda for the ride?" Most would start with "how was your summer?" or "looking forward to the new term?" but that was small talk and Jessa loathed it. There was nothing particularly stimulating about it and while she was interested to know how their summers went, they had the entire year ahead to talk about it--and the rest of the train ride while patrolling.

Standing there, she did her best not to fidget, not wanting to appear any more uncomfortable than anyone else in the room but on the inside she was itching to be anywhere else. To move. To do something. It was the surest sign she was in for a long term and she tried her best to ignore it. Eventually, she took to leaning against the wall, taking on a more casual stance that allowed less opportunity to do said fidgeting. Unlike the others, she offered no congratulations. It wasn't to be rude or malicious but rather, she didn't see the badges as a prize? They didn't win anything. All they'd gotten was Professors thinking they were responsible enough to take on more responsibility. It was like doing so well in Arithmancy that the Professor gave you extra homework or an additional page in your exam booklet.

They might as well had gotten the formalities out of the way. There were a few things she would need to do before the end of the train ride, some more stress relieving than others.
