| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Drumming his hands on the edge of his desk, there was much on the astronomer's mind while he waited for students to begin trickling in. Naturally, there were thoughts in regards to the lesson at hand...along with speculation in regards to how certain students would take to the activity. But the majority of his thoughts were self focused and with that bouts of anxiety. The approach of footsteps in the corridor pushed most of those thoughts aside.
For now. SPOILER!!: Azura! Quote:

" She said by way of greeting as she headed towards her usual seat in the middle of the semi-circle. She looked out the window and closed her eyes as the soft breeze touched her face.. Ahh.. It felt nice..
"Live long and prosper, Miss Kennedy," Airey greeted, returning the Vulcan salute. SPOILER!!: Jaemin! Quote:

He gave the professor a small wave and a smile, the expression a tiny bit strained, and then his fingers did their best to get the Vulcan salute down. It was still difficult to make his hand work that way. "Live long and prosper, sir," he murmured, sinking into his seat and going about getting himself situated.
Sir.
Airey had opened his mouth to correct the young man rather than immediately return the Vulcan salute, but ended up stopping himself. "Live long and prosper, Mr. Song."
Sweet solstice thank Merlin that the boy was....normal today. SPOILER!!: Vivian! Quote:

Once she reached the classroom, she immediately took the lint roller and de-linted herself. She also squinted at the note. Hehe cute. It made the firstie beam. Also, TIME FOR CLAAASSS. Vivian skipped inside the room and curtsied in front of the Professor. "Good... uh... morning, Professor Flamsteed!" Vivi grinned. "And you too, Pebbles! Good morning to you!" As for the note, she was very curious about it. "What... happens if I use the lint roller as a hair brush, Professor?" Would it work? Or something? What if she had lint on her hair?
And, as always, Vivi took her usual seat in front and waited for the rest of the students to arrive. Hurry hurry, she was excited for this lesson!
"Good afternoon, Miss Fairfield," the professor corrected gently before narrowing his eyes slightly. "You receive detention."
Deadpan. SPOILER!!: Tenacius! Quote:

So right in he goes through the door-- oops almost forgot that lint roller-- and a quick "Nanu nanu!" nod of greeting to the Professor before he makes his way towards one of the seats.
This particular greeting never ceased to amuse the man. "Good day, Mr. Salander," the professor chuckled as the boy took his seat. SPOILER!!: Brian! Quote:

Immensely.
HONEST.
"Morning, Professor Flamsteed." Now that was a strange greeting. And one he'd really never used. Huh. The world just kept getting stranger and stranger.
Early. Stellar. The astronomer was pleased to see that a firm hand had paid off rather than scare the fifth year off. Especially considering the bright scientific mind of this particular one.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Woods," he said, nodding his head towards the Hufflepuff. A little appreciative wink was also directed at the young man. SPOILER!!: Olly! Quote:

Olly had made it all the way to the Astronomy tower and stopped for a minute to catch his breath. It offered him the perfect time to use the lint roller and ponder the situation. Why was this lesson so early? Didn't all the stars and stuff have to be out for Astronomy? Apparently not. But not all their lessons directly involved looking at the sky, so this one might be like that. Something more theoretical. It sounded boring. But he still had to be there so he shrugged and entered the classroom. "Live long and prosper, Professor." And he took a seat.
"Live long and prosper, Mr. Thomas-Borzekowski."
Sweet solstice. Three years later and that last name was still an incredible mouthful. Perhaps not for too much longer, however. SPOILER!!: Abby! Quote:

"Good afternoon, Miss Valentine," he greeted the seventh year. SPOILER!!: Kitty! Quote:

The Goth smiled cheerfully at him before going to sit down at one of the desks in the semi circle. She waved at Abby from a distance and sat down next to Azura. "Morning," she told her with a small smile as she took out her new small hand mirror and began examining herself in it.
"Afternoon," the astronomer chuckled, returning the Vulcan salute in silence soon after. SPOILER!!: Daxton! Quote:

He did not bother to be all that sneaky; the idea was not to keep it, but simply to be a bother for everyone else, for a short while... and because being a problem for Airey Flamsteed could be fun.
Stepping into the classroom in exactly the same no-footwear-no-robes version of his uniform that he had worn to every other class this term, Daxton gave the room a cautious look. From what he could see, the classroom looked almost normal, at least as far as Astronomy lessons were concerned, and that alone made him suspicious. Aside from anything, that meant there were no clues as to what might happen in the lesson - other than, perhaps, the time it was being held - which was... unsettling.
Silent as always, Daxton took his regular seat right by the door, casting a look towards Airey Flamsteed and That Rock, and retrieved his notebook from his bag, holding tightly onto it while he waited for everyone else to arrive and for the class to start.
Did....Mr. Prince look pleased with himself somehow? Not that the Ravenclaw ever was particularly transparent with feelings, but there was just something that seemed incredibly disconcerting about his appearance at this moment.
Glancing at Pebbles, brow raised slightly, a silent agreement was made between the two to keep an eye on him this lesson. Particularly when it came time for the activity. Airey would rather not have a third repeat of certain be behaviors.
Thus, Airey simply nodded his head towards Mr. Prince as he took his seat. SPOILER!!: the late garden gnomes Quote:

With many giggles, they departed out of sight from the classroom with the shower of confetti trailing behind. Thanks for the audience studensies. Giggle, giggle ......................................... no
As if one wasn't bad enough, there were TWO disruptions. Thank Merlin there were not idealistic proclamations of teenagers understanding of true love at least, but that still did not stop the vein from popping out of his forehead slightly. Because it was completely unnecessary. And a week and a half late.
Sweet solstice WHY him. "OUT!" the professor barked just before the creature took it upon itself to dismiss, er, itself. SPOILER!!: Penelope! Quote:
Originally Posted by griffin The absence of the lint roller was noted, but this did not bother Penelope as she had her own lint roller. She had a supply of lint rollers in her trunk, so she could get a new one out for herself later. "Live long and prosper, Professor Flamsteed." Penelope did the vulcan salute with her hands before heading over to a seat in the front row on the side near the door. Somehow she had managed to survive nearly seven years of astronomy lessons with Professor Flamsteed, and she fully intended to make it through the end of this year.
Were those gnomes? The garden pests? They were all dressed up weird. What in Merlin's beard was going on here? Valentines messages? Weird. She was just going to ignore that and get ready for class.
Up until recent events, Penelope's astronomy textbook had been in near perfect condition. Tragically, it had been damaged when Haddie trashed the dorms looking for a book and the cover had later been chewed by nifflers. The textbook was still usable though, and she had been using it this way for a while now. Although it was not ideal for the textbook to be in condition and seeing the book this way made her eyes tear up a bit, the book was still fine for reading and taking notes. Poor textbook. It hurt to see damaged books, even more so when it was one of her books. Penelope got out her parchment, quill, and ink to take notes. Her trusty pet rock Luna was set carefully on the desk to hold the parchment in place. Everything was ready for the lesson.
Oblivious still to the lint roller situation, Airey simply returned the Vulcan salute to the Head Girl with a small grin. " Live long and prosper, Miss Wright." SPOILER!!: Fiyero! Quote:

He didn't even have time to eat breakfast; he just gobbled down a few pieces of candy from his stash on the way out the door. Why were they having astronomy in the morning anyway?
Yawning slightly, he grabbed the lint roller and gave his clothes a once-over. "Good morning, Professor and Pebbles," he said, inclining his head first toward Professor Flamsteed then toward the rock on the desk. "Live long and prosper." He still had no idea what that meant; he just knew everybody always said it to Professor Flamsteed.
Fiyero took a seat next to Vivian. "Hey, what's up?" he said, flashing her a small smile. The words had barely left his lips when a bunch of gnomes barged into the room... gnomes dressed as cupids?! Was it Valentines Day already?
" Good afternoon, Mr. Jones," he greeted. " Live long and prosper." SPOILER!!: Dot! Quote:

" Good day, Miss Wojack-Gusey," he grinned. SPOILER!!: Niomi! Quote:

Oh well, time to move on into class. She didn't want to be late, she almost was anyways. With a small smile on her face, she stepped into the classroom. Finding the Professor at his desk Niomi nodded and greeted him, "Hello, Professor." Looking around the classroom, to see if she saw any of her friends, she was sadly disappointed that she didn't spot any yet. Well, none of her friends have arrived. She looked for an empty seat, which wasn't hard time find, and sat down, waiting for class to start.
" Hello and good day, Miss Kelly." SPOILER!!: Esme! Quote:

Waves were sent to her friends before she took her seat. Yeeeeeah, it was weird being here during the daytime.
" Afternoon, Miss Darcy," Airey replied, taking a moment to check his sundial watch. Yes, it was about time to get this show on the road.
" Good afternoon everyone and welcome to another Astronomy lesson," the professor announced, clapping his hands prior to draw attention his way and hopefully put an end to idly chit chatter. " Today's lesson present a rather unique opportunity for you, but before we dive into all that...why is it not only naïve, but also illogical to wish on shooting stars?" OOC: Class has officially started! Please do not post arriving late unless you are willing to accept all IC consequences!
Class will resume as soon as I can reply tomorrow, likely approximately 24 hours from the time of this post.
