| open post, feel free to come across him. ^^ ♥Dunkin | Pixie's Precious Pea | kpop goddess | sneaky sounder | forever slytherin♥ Okay so... Jaemin was not proud of himself. He'd spent an extended amount of time after Charms class trying to figure out the colour-changing spell that Primeaux had taught them, but it had been such a frustrating class and so strongly disliked it that he just... hadn't managed to get it. Nothing he tried made it work. So the small Sytherin might have thrown his notes across the dorm in annoyance and left them in the corner for a while, ignoring them stalwartly while going about everything else in his everyday life.
However, it bothered him that he couldn't do that spell. It bothered him so much that he'd finally picked up the notes and gone wandering the castle, a handful of random items his pockets as he looked for somewhere to practice it. Clearly the dorm had not been conducive to his learning it... so this corridor would have to do. The small Slytherin tucked himself into one of the many nooks along the hall, sitting on the floor and setting his notes between his spread out legs and fishing in his pocket for his test items.
A small green rubber ball, a pink plastic coated paperclip, a rosebud that had broken off of the rose plant Professor Myers had given to him, a purple miniature stuffed alpaca plushie wearing a tophat... all small things that should be easy to work with. He put them on top of his notes, looking from them to where the spell and wand movement were written down. It was supposed to be easy enough... but whenever he thought about it, and about the class, he got so frustrated that it just didn't want to work.
He could feel the frustration setting in again, before he'd even started, and Jaemin let out a sigh. He wanted to make it work... he had to make it work. He pulled his wand out of his pocket and practiced the wand movement a few times, trying to clear his head. If he could just... focus on the spell alone... he could get it to work. It would WORK.
"Colovaria," he murmured, pointing his wand at the purple alpaca. He wanted it to turn green... but it stayed very stubbornly purple. He frowned, gripping his wand a little tighter, and tried again, voice a bit more forceful. "Colovaria!"
NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING. This was all art's fault. If it weren't for art... he would be just fine with this spell... The small boy pointed his wand at the ball and, rather snappishly, gave the spell another try in the direction of the paperclip... and was greeted with another failure.
He hated this. Hated it. Stupid art. Stupid magic. Stupid spell. Jaemin let out a long sigh and leaned back against the wall, moving to run a hand through his hair. Maybe he just... needed something even smaller to work with? Something extremely basic. Maybe he could just... do it on a single hair, or something. Those were small and wouldn't take much effort. Right? The small Slytherin touched his hair, separating off a single strand and holding it up. His eyes crossed a little as he looked up at it, and he pointed his wand at it. He was fairly sure this wasn't going to work, just like everything else... but it was worth a shot.
"Colovaria."
He was fully prepared for disappointment, so when the strand went very soft and pink, all he could do was blink in surprise. It had worked? He tugged the hair, pulling it out with a slight twinge, and blinked at it. He'd been going for green, but... any colour change worked, really. Any colour change was progress.
Unfortunately, this colour change hadn't been limited to just the hair he'd cast at... but rather, his entire head. He didn't notice, because he was too busy examining the pink strand he'd plucked... but all of his hair had gone a very soft, pastelly pink. |
