Unfortunately, he could have had a better summer. "It was alright...but only when I wasn't being forced into magic lessons. Would you believe Dad got a special permit from the Ministry so I could 'practice' and 'catch up on everything I missed' at school?" So yeah, he was making a face, clearly still not pleased with the idea despite it being in the past. "Reckon it'll be better than this coming Christmas though."
You know....when he went home....and his parents could PROPER kill him. Definitely not looking forward to that.
Blaise went and took the spot next to Davie by the fireplace and fished out his own deck while they were at it. "What about yours?" Magic lessons?! That was exactly what Blaise needed, in addition to the ones he already received at Hogwarts, heh heh. David knew this from their classes together and all the duels, but how did he say so without sounding like a jerk.... (it was something he was working on, this 'being sensitive to others' feelings' thing).
"Sounds like your dad really wants you to be good at magic?" David ended up saying, with a nonchalant shrug. Or so he hoped it appeared. "Why? What's happening at Christmas?" He kinda felt like Blaise was talking about something which he had no idea about. Huhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Now that his cards were all opened, Davie leaned back on his hands. "It was fun. I went to Peru, saw some AWESOME dragons, learned some new spells, went on a Quidditch stadium tour, which was actually kind of boring, and then did some shopping in Diagon Alley." No big deal. It had actually been an AMAZING summer but Davie didn't want to brag if Blaise's summer had been spent in, er, practical magic courses. As much as HE liked learning, having to take remedial magic was no joke.
"That reminds me, though," the second year got excited again and reached into his pocket to fish something out for Blaise. "LOOK!" he delcared brightly as he pushed the small, moving, almost-living statuette of a Peruvian Vipertooth into Blaise's hand. It was all accurate to size and everything. "The fangs on this little guy aren't really poisonous like the real thing, but they will prick ya if you let him bite you. And it will smart. And he WILL breathe fire." He nodded eagerly, hoping Blaise would like his present.
