Ansley is a creative soul, often coming across as free-spirited or laid-back, though he values intellectual pursuits in himself and in others. He is an advocate of independent thinking and coming up with alternative solutions to solve problems, even if he may seem unorganized and flighty himself at times. Being fairly good-humored, he is not easily annoyed - or at least isn't quick to show it - though he can certainly be strict if pushed to that. He is also fashion-conscious, often wearing vintage or thrift store inspired attire.

Ansley Finch is the second child born to Muggles Wesley and Edith Finch. He has one sister, Greta, who is five years older and also a Muggle. He always thought himself to be a little different than other kids when he was younger, just didn't realize he was a Wizard until he turned 11 when representatives from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry came to his house to let his family know.

Ravenclaw was were he would be sorted, which seemed to be a suitable fit for Ansley's creative mind, though the lack of arts classes at the school disappointed him. He found many other ways to indulge his creative outlet, however, and once he finished Hogwarts, he went on to a Muggle University where he studied Visual Arts, Art History, and Education.

He spent the last several years at a few Muggle high schools, teaching Art and Art History, while maintaining his ties to the Magical community. An accomplished painter, he also has a successful side-business painting magical portraits. Through a series of unfortunate events, he lost his last high school teaching job which led him to the open History of Magic position at Hogwarts. Though he figures Art History isn't too far off from Magical History, Ansley considers himself a very well-rounded intellect, knowing about a lot of different things, especially obscure facts, due to his love of reading.
