| Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... Student's were listening and the fish were going away. Thankfully with the windows open the smell wasn't too horrible anymore. She focused again on her students as they answers she took her wand out and had onions place themselves in front of each student. Even smelly these things would be better then fish on her clothes. SPOILER!!: replies Quote:

Polly though. Adi knew she was a vegetarian so this must be tough for her. Even if Cassie did the cutting. But Cassie... seriously, the woman did not do well around fishy odors. He watched her at the window with continued concern.
He lowered his eyes to scribble his prediction then vanished his fish. Eyes still filled with concern for Cassie, he raised his hand. "Cromniomancy, Professor.'' As for that second part of the question. "Um, both methods uses objects that give off weird smells.'' It was the best he could think of right now, okay? Adi popped a bit of pretzel into his mouth after lowering his hand. There was only one reason he would be distracted from food and the reason was certainly not any lingering fishy odors. "Very good Adi They do both give off different smells." He got snaps though it wasn't exactly what she was looking for, but it was true. Quote:

She caught Cinnamon's eyeroll but she didn't care. Paulina didn't like doing anything to mutilate animals even if they were already dead. She was a vegetarian and proud of it. Adi at least probably understood since he knew her well.
Giving a sigh, she felt that she had no choice in the matter. "I'm sorry little fish. I don't want to do this to you." Trying her best to ignore the smell even though it made her want to gag, Paulina looked inside the fish. It looked as horrific as it smelled and her hands were still shaking.
From what she could see, the intestines appeared to be blocked by something. She wasn't sure what, but she was not going to spend any longer looking. Quickly Paulina cleaned her hands before recording the findings in her notes.
She didn't waste even a second before vanishing the fish.
Trying to take her mind off of what had just happened, she raised her hand. "I believe it's called Cromniomancy. I think the similarity lies in the fact that both the fish and the onion have strong odors." She caught Cinnamon's eye roll too and to be honest is Cassie wasn't so nice she would have probably done it too. There was no one that was more about animals and their well being then someone who heard animals and sensed them. So if she felt it was okay to do this lesson it shouldn't be that hard.
Moving on to her answer though Cassie gave snaps, "It is called Cromniomany, but I'm looking for a different answer for the similarities." Quote:

With things now cleaned away the fourth year took out a clean sheet of parchment and wrote down her finding and her ideas on what the blocked entrails could mean. Setting her items aside she raised her hand to give the best answer she could for this questions. "I believe it's called Cromniomancy and it's normally done by studying the sprouting of the onion but I don't think we have time for that so maybe it has something to do with the smell it gives off when peeled or cut into?" Yeah the oniony smell was a strong one and always made her eyes teary. "You are exactly right! It does involve the sprouting of the onion." She beamed at the time thing. It would be revealed soon how they would do this lesson! Quote:

Oh, thank goodness they could vanish them now. Heather did so with gusto, making a little note of what she had seen when it was gone. Blech. She would be happy to never have to do that again. And she was grateful to Professor Morgan for opening the windows and letting the smell out. Blech, fish smell.
Now, they were moving on to the onions. Whew. Though, she didn't know the name of this form of Divination or how it was similar to the fish. Though, she did have an idea. "Maybe we cut them open, like we did the fish?" Which her tear ducts wouldn't appreciate, but it was better they spill out in the middle of class than her stomach. Snaps were going on more, "Very good! We will be cutting the onion open! " Quote:

Banish their fish? That was fine by him.
Zeke complied to the instructions, banishing his fish before then cleaning his desk with a well placed "Scourgify." He figured he could remove his bubble head charm now too... cause onions weren't so bad, and he could handle a few manly tears. He wasn't going to wimp out.
He didn't have anything to add, not really, he didn't know what form it was, or really how to do it... though he could guess. "Are we checking to see how thick the layers are? of it there's a sporty bulb bit growing in it?" Yeah, that's all he had. She looked to Zeke and gave him a few snaps, "We will be doing something with the layers, but not checking them. Nice guess though." Awesome job they were all doing! Quote:

It was a good thing that she has a high tolerance level, with gross fishy and food smells. Unlike some people who could even cut a fish open.
She turned her attention back to Cassie as she moved on to onions. "Cromniomancy, that's a form of divination dealing with onions. It's in some cases used to check up on people who are far away." Actually, onions were used in many different things in divination. She was excited to find out what way they would interpret the onion today. And of course Cinna was hoping it was what she had talked about. Cinna had been doing her reading and she got snaps for it. "Very good! We do use Cromniomancy to check on people that aren't with us." They would be doing that today! Quote:

"I don't know how to vanish my fish, professor, and you probably don't want it stinking up your rubbish bin." So would she kindly come get rid of it for him? As for the second question, "Cromniomancy usually involves carving into the onion and waiting for them to sprout... so maybe that's similar to what we did with the fish because we're going to cut them somewhat?" "OHMYGRACIOUS!!! Where is my head. I am so sorry first years." She took out her wand and was very upset with herself. Where was her brain. Helping vanish some of their fish, she turned to smile and give him snaps. "Wonderful answer. We will be carving the onions today." Such smart children.
Turning she checked if any other first year was having trouble, "If you need help vanishing your fish please have an older student do this or raise your hand and I can do it." She couldn't believe she forgot that! "Now many of you said Divination with an onion is called Cromniomancy and it is the study of an onion that has been sliced and is sprouting." She looked at their faces to see if they were confused on the sprouting part. "Now when you pick up your onion you will slice it directly in the center. Once it is cut you will place a name into the onion like this..." She picked up her onion and sliced it in the middle. As soon as the onion was open her eyes began to water. "Once it is open you take one side and place the name you are wishing to see about into the onion like this." Continuing with tears in her eyes and the onion in hand she carved her brother's name into the one side of the onion. "You will want to observe your onion to see if it is sprouting fast or slow, many or just one sprout."
Setting the onion back on the table and trying to wipe her tears Cassie turned to the class. "Now you are going to slice your onion and think of someone that is not here. It can not be another student nor a professor. This has to be someone who isn't at Hogwarts at all." She couldn't say that enough to make sure the students use their family or friends outside of the school. "It will not sprout today so please don't expect it to. You will find out at the end of the lesson what you will be doing with the onion. Please go ahead and cut your onion and place the name inside of it. If you need help first years there are older students or myself that can help you."
