Benzi's personality has morphed and changed over the years. A very studious toddler grew up to be a sports loving, charismatic child with an affinity for being interested in dangerous activities. Tragedy struck the family when he was just eleven years old, and the bouncy happy child grew sullen and withdrawn. Benzi developed anger issues, resenting the people that had left him and struggling to come to terms with his new reality.

It took Benzi a few years to accept what had happened, and he'd made a few mistakes along the way. Having been cheated on by his first love, abandoned by his almost parent like figure, Benzi's trusting nature hardened into one of guarded suspicion. Always friendly and inviting and eager to meet new people, there are very few who can actually claim to be close to him.

Ambitious and still curious about those dangerous activities, Benzi's protective streak is what led him to decided at a young age that he wanted to become an Auror. Having made this promise to himself, Benzi learned self-discipline and how to control and channel his emotions into training. Going into his seventh and final year at Hogwarts as a Prefect, Benzi hopes he can be not only just a role model for the younger students, but an actual person they can turn to if they need help.

:: BACKGROUND
__Early Life
Benzi was born in a small magical village in South Africa. Sickness took his parents days after he was born and he was given to a local British funded orphanage where he spent the first five years of his life. The adults said that he was a hopeless case for adoption since he was incapable of bonding with anyone – most of the time he would sit and read the few picture books the orphanage owned. No one bothered with him too much, and Benzi never complained.

All that changed when a British volunteer named Rachel Rider came to the orphanage. Benny, as he was known back then, clicked almost instantly with the young woman and grew very attached to the brunette, spending more time with her than in the orphanage. The adoption process was smooth yet long, but eventually Rachel returned to England with her new six year old son - Benzi Rider.

Upon arriving in England Rachel enrolled Benzi into a muggle kindergarten for limited hours every day, trying to ease him into this new world that he's now a part of. Benzi took to everything quickly - especially muggle football - and within a few months' time was attending regular muggle school with children his age. His life was simple and everything he'd ever dreamed of. He had a mother, an uncle who was his best friend, an aunt and three cousins who were likes siblings to him.

__First term at Hogwarts & the accident
Very much used to his life in London by now, Benzi happily went off to Hogwarts where he was sorted into the same house as his mother and uncle, and began his journey in the school. Unfortunately, tragedy struck as soon as he returned from his first Christmas holidays. Jake, Nina, Lucas and Alice Rider had been involved in a car accident, and passed away. Little Serena Rider, the third child of Jake and Nina, had been feeling sick so she'd stayed behind and hadn't been in the car at the time.

He left school and everything went dark. Angry, frustrated, resentful, heartbroken, Benzi and his family struggled to get past the devastating loss. Serena was adopted by his mother and together they slowly built a life. Rachel enrolled Benzi in a private magic school as he refused to return to Hogwarts and returned to her teaching job at London WU. At fourteen, Benzi met Quinn Chambers. A squib with a feisty attitude towards life, Q turned Benzi's world upside down in the best way possible. The two started dating shortly after and for a year and a few months, Benzi was truly happy. He started babysitting to earn some money, took a few lessons in krav maga, began his record collection.

That all fell down when one day Q cheated and broke the part of him that had previously trusted so easily. It didn't matter that she'd introduced him to his best friends, it didn't matter that she was the reason he'd decided to entertain the idea of going back to Hogwarts, nothing mattered because he'd trusted her to never hurt him and that's exactly what she'd done. Benzi doesn't forgive easily.

It was mostly because of Q that Benzi decided to return to Hogwarts for his sixth and seventh years. Knowing that his bandmates would be there helped make up his mind. He hoped to start over and perhaps go back to the happy kid who'd first walked those halls all those years before.

__Sixth year
Benzi's sixth year was a everything he'd hoped it would be. He met friends he'd never thought he'd ever see again, he made new friends, met a gorgeous girl who would later become his girlfriend. He trained hard in the DADA practice room, trying to impress the ex auror who taught the subject. He failed to perfect his patronus but towards the end of term found that it really didn't matter in a pinch because patronuses had very little effect against acromantulas. Specifically acromantulas who had kidnapped his best friend, the Headmistress and other students and taken them deep into the forest. Being part of the rescue mission and saving Noel made Benzi realise that there really was nothing else he'd rather do in the world other than be an auror. The summer was a nice calming break for Benzi, as he officially began dating Evie Shacklebolt, played a small gig at a musical festival and went to see TDK perform live for the first time. Oh, and he got a nice shining Prefect's badge, officially making him a second generation Prefect Rider in Ravenclaw and turning his mother into a sobbing mess of emotions. Fun times.
