Glancing over at his desk, which was floating just off to the left of the blackboard, he smiled at Pebbles as she rested upon in. “Sorry, love...I mean, Number One,” he said softly to her. “I’ll make sure you have a uniform for the next one.”

Really, ANY excuse to don his Admiral uniform in public was a good one, given that recently it had been for more private show, and he was pleased as a pulsar that the Headmaster's agenda this term seemed to provide the astronut with the opportunity. He was even tempted to throw his own lesson agenda out the window and instead focus entirely on the series and its significance in the evolution of scientific inquiry and popular culture...but that would mean wasting his entire set up here.

Perhaps he could speak with Meri-berry about something in the future….

WHOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!

How awesome! Dora tried to fight the current at first, but relaxed after a moment and turned a flip midair. Hehehehehe! OHHHH there were the desks!! Up there. CUTE! Dora wiggled about and kicked her feet to make her way up to the desks and pulled herself into one. HEHEHEHEHEHE!! This was super exciting stuff, bro!

Pulling out her quill she did as instructed and wrote her FULL NAME on the parchment and then tapped it with her wand. Bam! She was winning this student thing, right?

HOW COOL WAS THAT?! Hehehehe. Was Davie saving a seat for Char? THEY COULD ALL SIT TOGETHER!! Come over here, Davie TRUEBRIDGE!

But it was not too long before the first wave of students was finding their way to their seats.

And with a bit of acrobatic flare at that!

Live long and prosper, Ensign Dora,” he Vulcan saluted towards the first year, respecting her wish to be referred to as simply Dora. Thank Merlin. He had entirely forgotten to check the Gryffindor roster for name clarification again.

The seventh year searched the box to find one that had four to denote the matching role of "captain" he was supposed to claim, adding it to the collar of his robe as directed.

Then he walked into the classroom, first surprised by the apparent lack of desks and then the sudden weightless feeling as he floated up off the floor....em...the sandbox thingy. This was going to take getting used to, it wasn't exactly like flying. As he looked around, Benny noticed where the desks and chairs had wound up, as well as the professor. Using his limbs like he used his wings and legs over the summer, he paddled himself up to the desks and carefully manuevered himself into a seat.

"Good ev---" he started to say before remembering the other rule. His brows frowning slightly as he tried to remember the hand gesture. Eventually he managed a loose V with his right hand. "Live long and Prosper Admiral Flamsteed."

Grinning like a child on Christmas morning, Airey returned the gesture to the seventh year. “Live long and prosper, Captain Atreyu.” It was good to see him with just a smidgen more color to his face.

He frowned and then gave Professor Airey and quizzical look. What was he doing floating? Was he testing gravity? He shook his head and laughed to himself and saw one girl already beat him to the lesson. Well at least he came here early. He then felt a slight breeze and was being taken off the ground...

"WWOOOAAAAHHHHH!!!"

He did NOT expect that. He was smiling in glee and thought this was pretty rad. He began to do some flips and such because why not? He tried to pull himself into the desk like the little girl did. He managed but not too successfully. He was still getting used to floating in the air. Then he saw he needed to write his name and such. Might as well do that.

Then he needed to tap it with his wand. He shrugged and got his wand out of his robes and tapped it. There viola! Now he needed to keep himself staying in his seat. He was starting to slide out.

Live long and prosper, Ensign Winchester,” Airey greeted the third year. “I find it helpful if you wrap your toes around the leg of your chair. Or clench your derrière.
As long as no one made any sudden movements they SHOULD stay in their seats. Newton’s Laws still applied to this particular little spell.

Stepping into the room, after a little help from an older student, Noelle squealed as she started to float. Oh. My. MERLIN. How delightful was this?? She felt weird... like she was falling but she was actually going up.

She saw a little desk off to the side and remembered seeing something on the Gryffindor noticeboard about the lint roller. Quickly she grabbed it and used it only for her clothes. She grabbed the right... pip, was it?, for herself and then looked up.

Looking up, she noticed the desk. Thats where she needed to be. 'Swimming' upward, she reached a desk and shifted until she was actually sitting in the desk. She saw the backboard next. Okay, that was an easy one.

Noelle was prepared with her quill set and parchment. But there was already a piece of parchment on her table so she didn't bother to get out another. She was kind of impressed this parchment didn't go floating away. Grabbing her quill, Noelle wrote her name out.

Because that had to be known

Noelle's eyes grew wide with delight as the parchment turned into a sturdy name plaque after she gave it a tap. Oh... oh.... she had a plaque! With her name on it! And it was BEAUTIFUL!

Sighing happily, Noelle looked aorund the classroom to see what else was in here. There was so much. And it was so exciting! She saw the Professor, who she recognized from the Feast, standing behind the blackboard a bit. She grinned at him and gave a little wave.

Smiling as yet another first year made their way upwards to the seats, he offered another stoic - but obviously excited - Vulcan salute. “Live long and prosper, Ensign Summers.

She tightly held onto her supplies as she was lifted in the air."Woah" She said under her breathe as she looked at the desks and chairs in the air. She felt like she was in SPACE.

She put her supplies under one arm, and used to the other arm to air swim to an empty desk that was on the left side of the semi-circle. She put her supplies on her desk and looked at the blackboard. She picked up her quill that she had set down. She wrote then picked up her wand and gave it a tap. She moved her head back in shock when it turned into a wooden plaque. Neat.

The class hadn't even started yet and it was already was making the top of her list of craziest school experiences.

Peering at the Ravenclaw third year’s plaque, he was quite honored that she had taken things so far as to include her honorary title on it. A few hundred awesome points to you, Ensign Kingston. “Live long and prosper,” he smiled at her.

After using the lint roller on his school uniform, he picked up the right pin for himself from the box beside it, and wore it on his robe. As Ethan showed himself inside the classroom and was...taken aback by...whatever that was in front of him. Looking up, he saw that their tables and chairs were hovering directly above it...with Professor Flamsteed looking...happy. Ethan took a step, and was then gently lifted from the ground. "Uggh..." he felt like his internal organs were being crammed in his chest, but then the sensation was gone in just a few seconds. Take-off sensation, was it?

Ethan kicked the air, and was propelled upward, and occupied the nearest table and chair. It was kind of weird that he was floating along with his desk and seat. Reading the instruction in front, Ethan got his self inking quill, wrote down his FULL name, and tapped the parchment with his wand.

And so, the waiting game begins. Oh, and hello there professor! "Good evening, Admiral Flamsteed." Merlin, the set up felt like they were going to be attacked by Khan soon.

Live long and prosper, Captain Mordaunt,” he said in return, eyes twinkling with mischievous excitement.

Even his quill and notepad seemed to float ahead of him.

Despite the food induced lethargia, Blaise was trying to keep some part of his mind sharp. Currently he was aware they were all heading toward the stairs and not all were lions and eagles. Also, they still had their books and bags so they must have been heading somewhere they would need them unless something happened on the bottom floors and all students were being housed in the towers tonight so they got advised to take their stuff.

He didn't know man, he didn't know a lot of things right now and so he continued all the way into--what in merlin's beard had he just--WHOOAA!!!

"What's that thing outside we aren't meant to use as a hair brush and what's it for?" Questions, he had them. Answers, his quill was ready to take them down. "And what's an...Ensign..." You know, the thing attached to his chest that said for First Years. He WAS paying SOME attention, you know.

Live long and prosper, Ensign Bellaire,” he greeted the first year. “Stellar questions. The cleaning apparatus you passed, and hopefully used, on your way into the classroom is what muggles call a lint roller and is a device facilitates the removal of lint or other small fibers from most materials.” Not hair from one’s head or SPIDERS. He still needed to have a word with Miss...Lieutenant commander Wojack about that. Now that he KNEW it was her who had been doing that thanks to a little something called an acromantula invasion. “Ensign, well, that is a bit more complicated, but simply think of it as a ranking, a rank given to new officers on a starship. Or, in our case, new and younger students within the Hogwarts student body.

Having literally NO CLUE about the Muggle references rampant in the professor's rules, but at least grateful that he had posted his rules beforehand, Davie paused outside the door to lint-roll his already spotless robes. He then attached a small, single yellow pip, though he was very tempted to attach one with four pips because he knew what it meant, ish, and marched into the classroo---

"OOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooMMMMMMMMMMM!" David finished his thought by floating up up UP and AWAY! Well, not really away, but Merlin was this enchanting or what? He was enjoying this already, and float-swam toward the nearest desk. He needed to save one for Charlotte THIS TIME, but once he was in his seat, he didn't really fancy getting out again. So he'd just have to yell and scare off anyone who tried to sit too close to him, k? K.

In the meaaaaaaaaantime, Davie beamed as he bobbed a little. HEY LOOK, Dora was here! "HI DORA," he shouted unnecessarily loudly. Oops. Excuse him for mistakenly thinking sound wouldn't travel here in astro-space. Davie also took to writing his name on his parchment, which was wicked cool in how it attached itself to his desk.

ALSO, per the instructions and that older kid's lead, Davie held up his fingers and then pried them apart with his other hand in a three-fingered V. "Live long and flounder, Professor Flamsteed." Or uh, whatever he was supposed to say.

….pardon?

Not knowing the first year well enough to pass judgement - although he tended to do so anyway with Ravenclaws - he was unsure whether or not the young man was trying to be cute, purposefully messing up the greeted to get a rise out of him, or simply committing an honest mistake.

Given WHO the boy’s mother was...he would go with the last option for now. Innocent until proven guilty, right?

It’s live long and prosper, Ensign...ahem...Truebridge,” he correctly oh-so-gently.

Ellery was lucky. She practically lived next door.

Oliver had read the rules, actually. So, as soon as he caught his breath enough to move again, he used the lint roller on his robes. But why would there be hair on it anyway? He didn't have a pet. And he didn't shed. But if that was the rule he wasn't going to argue, because it was a simple enough rule that protest was not necessary. The other rules, however, were weirder. Like they had to address the professor as admiral? Whatever.

"Good evening ad-AHHH!" Oliver started his greeting as he walked into the room, but was abruptly cut short due to fright. He was getting sucked into the sky! The first year flailed his arms in a panic for a few moments, before it became clear to him that he was not going to be sucked up into the sky and sly away. Apparently they were going to hold class from the air. Whatever. Olly simple shrugged and concentrated on figuring out how it worked and how best to maneuver himself. It was like swimming, but in the air.

"I can fly!" That was accompanied by his best impression of the Peter Pan noise, which was pretty impressive if he did say so himself. He eyed a desk, wondering just what would happen if he jumped off, when he remembered the other part of the rule. Greeting were to be accompanied by the live long and prosper sign. So Olly...tried. He could not make his fingers separate like that, no matter how hard he tried. So it ended up with three of his fingers sticking together and his pinky off to the side by itself. At least he gave it a valiant effort.

"I like your suit, admiral." He saluted the man, because it felt right. And no, Olly did not take a seat. He continued floating around the room, because that was way more fun.

“Live long and prosper,” he greeted the Slytheirn, puffing out his chest just a little bit at the compliment.

And also grabbed one of the pip thingies that was supposed to be for seventh years. Totally had this rule thing 100% covered. Your welcome, sir!

Then as he made his way into the classroom, he arranged his fingers in the salute thingy—the volcano one??? why volcanos needed a salute was beyond him though—and went straight for Professor Flamsteed. Or uh, Admiral Flamsteed apparently…

But okay, what was up with all of these silly new rules anyways? Professor Botros was the Headmaster, they were going to have tons of ‘fun,’ team building’ camps throughout the term, everything was all about promoting unity and happiness and spirit, and now they had tons of silly rules to make all the Professors really happy. Yup. This years Hogwarts mystery was ‘The Essence of Hufflepuff’.

So now that he had that one figured out, could they all go home and call it a year?

……… No?…. Well, it was worth a shot.

What the heck? Where were the--WOAH. He was floating. Wicked cool. So uh, he was gonna swim towards his Professor, yeah?

Stopping just in front of his Professor, he held up the hand with the volcano salute. Luckily for him, Zander had taken the preemptive measure of writing out the greeting on the back of his hand. Though uh, the letters had sort of smudged since the time when he had written it down… But no worries, sir! He’d figure it out. He was a SEVENTH year now. ”Dif tor hi sumo-wrestler,” he struggled. BEEEAAAAAAAM.

Nailed it.

Y’know, maybe next time he’d opt for the english version… This volcano stuff definitely erupted straight in his face.

Also.

Head Boy say what?

Sumo wrestler?

Staring blankly at the seventh year for a good long while, he slowly turned his head to the side and just continued to stare some more. “Come again now?

Oh, and live long and prosper.

Janelle stopped, momentarily puzzled by the lack of the usual furniture. Yes, it was going to be an interesting year indee....... Before her brain had time to process what was happening, Janelle was in the air. She was floating upward and trying not to panic. She wasn't scared, just startled by the unexpected happenings.

As she rose toward the ceiling, Janelle realized that the furniture was above her. Assuming that they were supposed to sit, she flailed her way over to an empty seat and hoisted her way into it. Once Janelle was kind of situated in the desk, she called over to the professor. "Hello Admiral Flamsteed. Ensign Guidry reporting for duty. Live long and prosper sir." Janelle tried not to giggle, as she arranged her fingers to give a proper Vulcan salute.

Now catching sight of the blackboard, Janelle followed the instructions. She took a quill out of her backpack which she was thankfully wearing and began to write on her piece of parchment. Then she tapped it with her wand and watched, as she now had a name plaque. Magic was so cool.

Now all Janelle had to do was wait for class to begin.........and wonder what else the Admiral had in store for them.

Still wondering where Captain Adair had gotten the idea they would be doing sumo wrestling today - was it the sand? - he saluted the third year as she floated to her seat. “Live long and prosper, Ensign Guidry.

Now... what was the other thing? Oh yeah. She flashed the weird v hand sign thing as she passed a classmate. And there was another. And another.

She just kept the sign up as she swam/made her way to an empty seat. Once safely seated, she signed her name on her parchment and gave it a tap with her wand.

Sighing once more Kyroh stepped into the room and suddenly felt as though something was not right. Had he drank something? Or maybe someone had put a spell on him? Nono- he had lost five stone in the last 30 seconds right?!? SOMETHING was going on because he felt his body pulling him and his feet leave the ground. FOOD!!! FOOD WHERE WAS IT?! Glancing up he spotted the chairs and the desks and...classmates floated up as well?

Okay.

Cool.

He wasn't the only one to lose 5 stone. Reaching out to the box he grabbed one of the badge-thingys that looked the most interesting. The one right in the middle-with the dot in the left circle, before allowing himself to float up-up-up annddd onto a chair.

With his butt placed firmly on a seat, Kyroh quickly started making his name-tag. "HI SIR!" Oh wait. Uh...he spread his fingers apart. "Arfarf heh Smushma?? That was how you said it the cool way right?

Admiral,” he winked at the Ravenclaw as he found his seat. “Dif tor heh smusma.

And he was really really hard not to be amused by the little, ahem, amendments Lieutenant commander Scabior had taken to his name plaque. Yes yes, the professor DID in fact know his name by now, but it was mostly for the benefit of the fifth year’s new peers.

Milo rubbed the link roller over as much of the surface of his robes as he could and then buried a hand in the little container of pips pulling out a piece with a solitary golden dot. He fastened it to the front of his robes and proceeded into the room but stopped suddenly.

Not really stopped though, nope. He was moving but no longer horizontal but vertical. This wasn't right but he had learned growing up not to take everything face-value. Instead of freaking out, Milo simply looked around as he floated. It wasn't hurting or anything and obviously this was supposed to happen because, look, the desks and and chairs were floating and so was the Professor. He grinned excitedly and quickly made as if he was swimming in order to reach a chair. He sat down and glanced quickly at some of the familiar faces.

"Evening Professor." He managed to squeak before noisily ripping out a piece of parchment from his notebook and scribbling his name onto it for display.

He stole a look to his left and right and looked down at the floor and quickly checked that his shoes were both tied. The professor probably wouldn't want to go chasing after trainers if they didn't float as well.

Squinting at the first year, Airey was torn with how to react. Naturally, he opted for a bit of dry sarcasm. “I don’t see a professor here,” he whistled, turning a bit to the side to show off his pips...and his uniform.

Had taken him AGES to hunt down in the convention circuit.

Dot stuck pips all over herself before skipping into the room and immediately zipping up into the air.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEE. Thankfully, Dot read the directions and didn't wear a skirt, so she was free to kick her way to a desk. "Admiral StarMan! This was my idea! On my homework last term!" Her hair was floating. DID HE SEE IT? Her HAIR was floating! "Admiral... erm... live long and prosper. Thank you."

Her quill was also floating a bit, and she had to slide out of her seat to get it. Once it was firmly in hand, and Dot was firmly in seat, she filled out her name tag as directed.

Chuckling, he forgot all about scolding her about her previous tresspassings with the lint roller. Enthusiasm had a way of doing that to the man. “Live long and prosper, Lieutenant commander Wojack,” he said, opting to add a bit of a cheeky wink to the gesture.

Today, he made sure he read all the rules, so as not to have a repeat of his first Potions lesson. He used the lint roller outside the classroom, and even made sure to have his textbook. But when he walked in, he wasn't expecting to be swept off his feet.

"What in Merlin-?!" His stomach seemed to raise in his throat and cut him off. This really wasn't a feeling he enjoyed, and the boy desperatly wanted to be on the ground again. But by the looks of the ceiling, that wasn't going to happen. All of the chairs and desks were up there, as well as the professor and a few students. Well great. He thought. Taking a deep breath, he started to awkwardly swim/flap his way to an empty seat. Austin was tall for his age, and rather lanky, and he wasn't coordinated when he was on the ground. Being in the air just made it that much harder. Eventually he made it to his seat, and he thanked his lucky stars pun intended that he was able to rest his arms. He kept his messenger bag on in hopes that it wouldn't fall.

He took out his quill and wrote his name and year, just like the board said. Before he arrived, he had picked up a pin with two dots on it that apparently declared him a fourth year 'lieutenant'. He had seen a few episodes of Star Trek with his father, but he never really understood it. It was a muggle show that he enjoyed, and it was strange. "Live long and prosper Admiral." The fourth year lieutenant made the 'V' shape with his hand. Was that right?

With a tap of his wand, the piece of parchment turned into a wooden sign on his desk.

Wicked.

Live long and prosper, Lieutenant Moore,” he greeted the Ravenclaw.
SPOILER!!: DAXTON!

And not just that, it was proper science, not the boring sort of science they did in his old school where they all they did was hook up wires and a battery to turn a lightbulb on and off.

However, he was less excited about being in a class with the frankly ridiculous rules that Airey Flamsteed had instated, the ones all based around Star Trek. Daxton had decided that they, along with many other things he had passed judgement on recently, were stupid. He tended not to follow stupid rules.

He did, at least, pass the lint roller over his uniform - the parts of his uniform he wore, anyway, as his robes were currently in his school bag - and he was wearing his shoes. Daxton also took one of the pips, mainly because he might like to keep it for himself, and add it to his growing collection of pilfered things.

As he stepped inside, Daxton had only a moment to register the bizarre set-up of the room before being, quite literally, swept off his feet. The unexpected change in circumstance led him to flail his limbs ridiculously, trying to grab something to steady himself and stay on solid ground, but there was nothing to grasp and soon he was well and truly in the air. Perhaps the only thing keeping him from outright panic was the realisation that the other students, Airey Flamsteed, and all the desks and chairs were floating up nearer the ceiling too.

All in all, it was an alarming introduction to his first Astronomy lesson, and Daxton was fairy certain that he was most unhappy with it. Somehow, somehow, he managed to propel himself through the air until he reached a desk and, with some difficulty, maneuvered himself so he was sat there properly. For a long while he sat there, ignoring Airey Flamsteed and everyone else, watching his feet dangle below and wondering how on Earth (or not, as the case seemed to be) the teacher had managed this particular spell. The mechanics were interesting. Humans, desks, and chairs floated, the sand from the sandbox below thankfully did not, and neither did the parchment Daxton found at his desk. Interesting, if you ignored the fact that the whole situation was downright irritating. He did not want to be up in the air.

Daxton took an ordinary muggle biro from his pocket (quills were okay, aesthetically speaking, but they were also unpractical and unpleasant to write with), and wrote the required information on the parchment. Then, retrieving his wand from where he stored it up his sleeve, he tapped the parchment and...

... there it was. His first official spell ever cast. Sort of.

Looking up from his plaque, Daxton's eyes found Airey Flamsteed. Why did the man look so happy? Come to think of it, a lot of people in here looked happy, judging by the stupid grins on their faces. Why? Daxton... did not trust them.

He didn't take his eyes off the teacher, but didn't give him one of those silly salutes either. Just... watched him. It was actually a strange comfort, knowing that he'd met this man almost an entire year previously, and finding him to be as consistently weird as he was back then.

In other news, people were being loud.

Shocker.

Ah yes, Airey had been curious and eager to see how this particular young man fared at Hogwarts. His visit to the young man’s home had been...rather insightful. Silently performing the Vulcan salute in the Ravenclaw’s direction, the astronomer opted not to speak out loud, just in case.

...or not. For as he strode inside expecting to choose a seat that would somehow accommodate his size, he was instead seeing a large box of sand and his classmates were...WHOA! What was going oooooon??? What kind of school was this? Owen could feel himself being lift off the ground. How was that happening?? He was too heavy to be floating! Was he not? Looking up, he saw that the desks were also floating in midair. He hadn't read in the rules or anywhere that this was a floating lesson! Okay, calm down, Owen. You just have to...swim or something...to get to your desk. He could do that. So, the eleven-year old large Hufflepuff boy swam, paddling with his arms somewhat, kicking with his meaty legs somewhat, to reach his summit of scarlet quarry desk. It took awhile but eventually he made it.

Thank toffees.

But, holy chocolates! Why won't his seat stop rocking? He could feeeeeeel it and he tried to get it to settled down by sitting on it heavily. Apparently, he wasn't winning. So what else to do than just let the chair do it's rocking? Turning to his bag, Owen took out a quill wrote what was required on the parchment. At least his writing was still negligible. Take that rocking chair! Then, wand!tap.

Where was the Professor? Was he wearing another sparkly suit? Owen kinda looked forward to that. Alas, he was not. Owen vulcan!saluted at him.

Airey returned the Vulcan salute to the Hufflepuff before his attention was drawn to the next student to float up towards the desks.

And now he was gone, graduated, and she was left on her own.

The only thing that made the walk to class any easier was the knowledge that things would be out of the ordinary. Well, astronomy was always a little out of the ordinary as far as classes went, but THIS one and Airey's new rules made it feel different. Different because she was now a Captain, and she'd chosen to call him Admiral Airey (no longer Flamsteed because Flamsteed reminded her of the old days with Tobes and she needed CHANGE, even though Tobes had always called him Professor Airey (but maybe it was an ode to him)). So... knowing that things would be fun and different in THAT sense eased the pain a little bit.

But only a little.

...At least, it was only a little until she neared the classroom - at which point she VERY EXCITEDLY accepted her FOUR pips and attached them to her robes - then even LESS little when she actually entered the classroom, at which point she was confused by no desks and a weird massive sandbox and A LACK OF GRAVITY. WELL. HELLO THERE, MISSING DESKS. ALL RIGHT THEN. She was just gonna... casually swim through the air and get up there with the rest of the class. Yeah. Mega cool, and actually just the distraction she needed.

And ADMIRAL AIREY WAS RIGHT THERE. SHE WAS READY FOR THIS. "Tobes says hi again." Because it felt right to say first and foremost and HONOR HIS MEMORY. "'n LIVE LONG AND PROSPER, ADMIRAL AIREY." CUE THE VULCAN SALUTE. And... she... didn't know where to sit, because she'd always sat near Tobes in the same section of the room and now the seats were all HIGH IN THE AIR and nothing felt right, so she was just going to... head over here by Zander. Yes. Hi, boyfriend. Couldn't replace Tobes, but he was a sufficient new astronomy partner.

"Hello, Captain," she wiggled her eyebrows at him before sprawling out Captain Sophie Brown, Seventh Year on the provided piece of parchment on her new desk and tapping it with her wand. WOOP WOOP NAME PLAQUE.

This was ALREADY gonna be the BEST CLASS EVER. SHE COULD FEEL IT.

Too bad Tobes couldn't be there to enjoy it.

Not surprised by the brief update from Mr. Toby, Airey nodded his head in acknowledgement. He really needed to write to the young man soon, perhaps include a picture of a certain contraption he had built over the summer between conferences and National Space Centre obligations.

Live long and prosper, Captain Brown,” he greeted the Head Girl as she made her way to her seat.

Hopefully the Head Boy and Head Girl could keep their digits to themselves. SQUINT.

Lame. That ring finger was missing out, 'cause her littlest finger was the very best one, uh huh.

The attempted v-shape didn't seem to be very good for holding on to lint rollers either, considering that it dropped right out of her hand and did a little bit of sticking to her shoe before she gave up on practicing and picked it up normally again. Were they going to have all term to learn this thing or what? 'Cause the first time was NOT the charm, apparently. Once she was all lint-free (where did the lint even come from anyways? Aside from the fact that it didn't live in her hair, Professor Flamsteed hadn't exactly explained that part very well. Four entire terms here and STILL nothing), she stepped into the classroom. There was only a second of staring--and beaming--at all the SHINY stuff going on (and admiration of her four pip thingies, of course), before she was lifted right up off her feet. OH MAN. THIS WAS GOOD STUFF. FLOATY HAIR AND ROBES AND EVERYTHING.

It took 500 million percent of her effort to keep from squealing, because real responsible Prefects were probably not allowed to do that, as she flapped and wiggled her way over to a desk. The no-skirt thing had been a very good idea, mhmm. Way to go to Professor Flamsteed. She showed him her attempt at the v-shape, though her ring finger still stayed suspended somewhere in the middle of the V so it looked a bit more like a W. Nobody would notice, right? She wasn't even sure what the V stood for yet. "Long live and prosper, Mr. Admiral sir Flamsteed!" With a big smile, she abandoned her funny hand shape to wave at him, and then take a seat near the front. Okay. Okay cool. Name tag time.

Once she'd managed to extract a quill from her bag, she wrote 'LIEUTENANT COMMANDER NORAH LILLIAN KITTREDGE' in big curly letters and gave it a tap with her wand. It wasn't as good as Princess Prefect, but it'd do. For now.

Just Admiral will do, Lieutenant Commander Kittredge,” he chuckled as his hands formed the Vulcan salute. “Live long and prosper.

Apparently Professor Flamsteed was now Admiral Flamsteed, and she would be called Lieutenant Commander Penelope. It seemed like the kind of thing that he would have done right from when he started teaching at Hogwarts. After using her lint roller on her clothes, Penelope looked in the box of pin things. Taking the fifth year pips from the box, she pinned them to her robes.

Walking into the classroom, Penelope noticed that everything was set up very differently. Why was there a sand pit? Floating, she was floating! Why were the desks floating so high off the ground? What was Yoongi going to think about the desks being so high off the ground? Where was Yoongi? Penelope would keep an eye out for him. For now she would air swim over to Professo- Admiral Flamsteed.

Penelope did the vulcan salute with her hand when she got close to Flamsteed. "Live long and prosper, Admiral Flamsteed." It felt weird to start calling him Admiral Flamsteed after all those years of saying Professor Flamsteed. Sort of reminded her of how he had made them call him Captain when Hooksteed happened. No, no, no, she couldn't think of that. It was bringing back bad memories. Penelope's face felt hot and her eyes were getting a little teary. Breathe, remember to breathe. Don't start crying. Okay, she wasn't going to cry or anything like that. Crying was good, but not right in front of Prof- Admiral Flamsteed. She should probably go find her seat now.

Finding her seat, Penelope read the instructions that were written on the board. Were they going to get fancy name plaques again? She wrote her name on the provided parchment.

Penelope tapped the parchment with her wand and watched as it turned into a wooden plaque. That was so cool! They got their own name plaques! She looked over at Admiral Flamsteed. What would they be doing? Why were they floating? What would happen if someone fell out of their chair?

Oh sweet solstice...here she came. Heeeeeeeeeeere she came…

Bracing for impact - namely tears - Airey’s lips curled into a tight toothy smile and...oh hey, look at that. Miss Wright was alright. “Live long and prosper, Lieutenant Commander Wright.

Also, she was pretty sure she'd already strained her ring finger trying to do the ridiculous Muggle V-sign. There was a reason why wizards didn't watch television!

Calming down, Mari forced herself to recite, "Live long and prosper, Prof— er, Admiral Flamsteed." That was right, yes? No? She sat down.

The girl pulled a long, peacock-feather quill out of the pocket of her robes. She had noticed in the store that it matched her House colours, and she was really quite proud of it. The feather bobbed up in down as Marisol wrote herself a nametag. When she was finished, she blew the emerald ink dry to admire her handiwork.

Because writing one's full name was way more professional. No one needed to know what the "B." stood for, though, so Mari put her quill down and fidgeted with her pip.

Live long and prosper,” he said with an especially tooth grin at the Slytherin.

"Live long and prosper, Profess - errrr, I mean Admiral!" she said while making that weird 'v' shape with her fingers. She didn't really understand what she was doing, but it had been in the rules so who was she to disobey?

The whole thing was really strange, however...

With a quill, she proceeded to fill out the required information on the piece of parchment:

With a tap of her wand, she watched it turn into a little wooden plaque. Okay, what next?

Live long and prosper, Captain Holiday.” Quite the delicate looking Vulcan salute, if he did say so himself.

He thought Flamsteed might like that. Hehe. Noting the box of thingies, he grabbed the allotted amount to seventh years.

Now... onto getting into the classroom! The Hufflepuff just had enough time to register the change before he was SWEPT off his feet. "WOAAAAAH!'' This was fuuuun! Hehe. He did some sort of weird swimming motion, trying to get himself to Benny's direction. Oh looky! It was The Suit! "Admiral Flamsteed! Live long and prosper!'' Cue the vulcan symbol! "Remember these brows?'' With a grin, Adi continued his journey towards his bestie, finally managing to get there and carefully easing himself into the seat. "Hiya, Captain Benny! Live long and prosper!'' There went the Vulcan sign again.

Adi's attention turned to the board, read the instructions and the proceeded to follow them.

Ehem... Self proclaimed Master of the Universe, that was.

Well...that was...unexpected. Airey didn’t remember hexing anything to produce THAT result this term - not even the special chest in the Gryffindor common room had that particular hex upon it. He had placed something else on it instead, however.

Live long and prosper, Captain Rehman,” he greeted the Hufflepuff. “Didn’t know you enjoy them enough to figure out how to hex yourself to attain them.

He closed his eyes tightly as he clutched on a desk. "I want to get doooown!" he was training his fear of heights and this took him off guard and it scared him.

The fifth year remembered to use the tint roller first before she entered the classroom. Once her uniforms was lint free, the Gryffindor took the fifth year pips from the box and pinned them to her robes. There all set.

The first thing she noticed when she entered the classroom was her classmate were floating in the air. FLOATING?! Oh Man! She's glad she decided to come to this lesson. "Live long and prosper, Admiral Flamsteed!" Cue the Vulcan Salute! Now all she need was somewhere to sit. Candice had to do a little kicking here and there so she could reach her desk.

As soon as she sat down, she took out her new and shinny Hippogriff-feather quill from her bag and wrote down her name and year on the parchment.

She gave it a tap with her wand before it turned into into a wood name plaque. Nice.

And what's with that eyebrows, Adi?

“Live long and prosper, Lieutenant Commander Messer,” he greeted the fifth year. Wasn’t she glad she returned to Hogwarts now? Got a stellar new title and pips and everything!

Like the Admiral thing. Maggie got it now.

She used the lint roller outside the classroom to brush down her pants. Even though she KNEW for a FACT that they were clean. Clean as a....err...she wasn't good with metaphors. But they were very very clean. Since Flamsteed wanted them to use it though, Maggie did. Just in case. Yes. She was going to be his best student this lesson. And then maybe he would-

WHAT EVEN??????????

O_____________________________O

Maggie had stopped right before stepping into the classroom and just stared inside. What was happening?? Why was everything floating? Why was Flamsteed such a crazy person? Why was he a teacher at this school? Why why why? Could she just leave? Had he seen her? Could she make an excuse and just turn around and go? But that wouldn't look good. Not at all. At least she'd worn the pants as instructed. She'd even changed them a little to make sure it looked good in all the right places.

With a sigh, Maggie eventually moved forward and almost immediately felt herself DEFYYYIIIING GRAAAVITYYYY floating in the air. Right. At least everyone was doing it. It was fine. "Live long and prosper, Admiral!" Whatever that meant. She'd learned it though. Unlike others (Zander ahem) she hadn't even tried to remember that other version. The volcanoes one. Nope. English it was. She'd also not been too successful mastering the greeting thing so she had to use her left hand to spread the fingers of her right hand to form a V. Whatever. See. But she was totally doing what he was telling her to.

Maggie even knew what those dot things meant and 'swam' over to retrieve the correct one. Unlike Dot. Who'd plastered them all over her robes. But oh well. That wasn't her problem. Not today. Sorry, Charlotte. Finally, she moved over to a free seat near Kyroh. There she made her name tag (as if Flamsteed didn't know her name, pfft) and stuck it to her robes. And for good measure, Maggie also stuck herself to her chair so she wouldn't float off again.

Good thinking huh?

Live long and prosper, Lieutenant Traulton,”he greeted with a curt nod.

As she walked into the classroom, look it was a giant sandbox. Was it filled with moon sand? Hmmmmmmm. Get it moon sand, astronomy? Haha.

Hey? Why was she floating? Good thing she wasn't wearing a skirt. This was so weird. But she just went with it. Pushing her way toward she spotted the desk and a floating classroom just above her. This was interesting to say the least. "Live long and prosper, Admiral professor." She attempted to make a "V" by spreading her middle and ring fingers apart. Instead all of her fingers ended up being spread out. She couldn't do it. She looked more like a five year old holding up her fingers indicating that she was five. Wearing a grin to match.

Finding herself a spot she climbed into a seat. Taking a quill out of her bag she wrote down her info on it and tapped the paper with her wand. Tada!

Spending several moments thoroughly lint-rolling herself and attaching pips to her robes (which confused the Ravenclaw since she STILL had absolutely no idea what Star Trek was), Rea finally entered the classroom; a bright smile ever-present on her face. No, she didn't get it right now...but new had never scared her. "Admiral Flamsteed, it's lov-- Oh!" The greeting was cut short as Reagan was suddenly IN THE AIR, momentarily taken off guard by this development. See, she'd read the rules...and had taken Astronomy before under Professor Flamsteed's tutelage. She remembered him to be a very excitable, precious man...but this was all very strange. Mhm, they were ranked? now...and these odd badges...and in a classroom with moon? sand and faulty gravity...

Gosh, it was terribly exciting, right? Unpredictable. What would happen next?!

Trying to maneuver towards an empty seat, giggling all the while...she accidently bumped into a few of her peers. Oops. EVERYONE GOT AN APOLOGY. Rea was just used to being on her own two feet, firmly on the ground...So, this took some coming-to-terms-with. When she finally was able to plant her bum into a seat, though...she followed a few of her classmates' example and glued herself there. If she was going to learn anything, she could do without the distraction of slipping and sliding...

Digging into her bag, which Rea had safely tucked between her body and the desk, she retrieved a quill and went about jotting her name on the provided piece of parchment...with her rank and a little something extra. Why not, right?! It was all for funsies, anyway.
Giving it a final tap, she beamed at the Professor once more.

"Live long and prosper....sir...Admiral, sorry." Had she said it right? Also, was she doing this....hand signal...? Her fingers didn't want to cooperate, BUT SHE WAS TRYING!

After using the lint roller to clean her uniform, she pinned the correct pip onto her robes and was able to see inside the classroom before she walked in. Letting out a small sigh, she braced herself and stepped into the room only to be practically hoisted up. The fact everyone had to do this basically at the same time was comforting, at least. After she air-swam towards her seat, Jet managed to sit down and, playing by the rules, wrote her name and year in the parchment provided.

When she was done, she gave it a tap with her wand and looked at the professor just in time to be reminded of the greeting he was expecting. She took a breath. Play by the rules. "Pr- Admiral Flamsteed." Lifting her right hand in the required V-shape, she said in a low voice, "Live long and prosper."

Maging to retrieve his self inking quill, Zeke filled out the name parchment plaque thing as per usual instructions. After which he tapped it with his wand, turning it into the handsome plaque it usually was.

There. Timmy tapped the parchment and watched it turn into a wooden plaque. That was always her favorite part about writing her name down in this class. "Live long and prosper, Admiral," Timmy directed to the professor, along with the Vulcan salute.

Then he stepped into the Classroom and his eyes blinked with surprise there were countless other students including the ones he had observed before floating and twirling and whatever else it is that you did while floating in mid-air to desks that also floated off the ground.

The Observant Lion took his 1st step into the class room, but his feet never found the floor again after that...so technically still no first steps here for Keane.

He floated not doing anything special just floated...he did bump into something/someone/ on his way to a desk and started to pin-wheel, but he remained stoic. Next thing he knew it felt like someone had punched him in the gut and he begun to descend some from it. Which it didn't hurt so much. He had been hit harder than this, Maxine could hit harder than this. Keane's arms crossed until he reached a desk. His arms stretched out and grabbed onto the desk pulling himself down then righting himself upright and took his seat.

He wrote down his name on the parchment then watched as it changed and attached itself to the desk.

And there was one Gryffindor serving as a prime example of Newton’s Laws. Airey would have been tempted to reward the young man had it not been for that horrendous spelling mistake on his name plate.

Live long and prosper, Captain McGinnis,” he greeted as he swam his way over to the seventh year’s desk. “Let me fix that spelling for you…” With a tap of his wand, Airey ceremoniously rearranged the letters on the plaque and nodded. “There you go.

SPOILER!!: CHAR!

??!??!???

But she wasn't dumb so she just did what some other kid did and rolled it on her clothes.

What she did like though, was that there was a spot right by her BEST FRIEND. Char didn't even bat an eyelash at the floating, taking it all in something that would have been a stride had she been on the ground. She took her seat next to Davie and then after some serious looking around, wrote her name on the parchment.

WHAT were people doing with their fingers? Volcanoes didn't even have fingers so how come there was a salute?

#purebloodproblems

Her hand did some spirit fingers in the air.

"Admirable Airman I don't want to be a whatever the sign thing is, and what is a red shirt?"

Squinting at her name plaque...and then squinting some more because it was proving to be a little more difficult to read from where he stood floating for some reason...Airey decided to save opening up that can of Sorting Hat worms for another time.

Especially given the questions Ensign Kettleburn was asking.

Sweet solstice, she was going to be one of those anti uniform appealers someday, wasn’t she?

We don’t always get what we want in life, Ensign Kettleburn,” he replied cooling with a playful smile. He wanted to be an astronaut, for example. But he was not going to go down that road either. Nope. “But we all must start somewhere and trust me, Ensign is a much better thing to be than a redshirt.” Seriously. But since she had asked… “Which is a term coined from the original Star Trek muggle television series which aired from 1966 to 1969 and refers to a stock character in fiction who dies soon after being introduced as in the series red-shirted security personnel frequently died during episodes.
SPOILER!!: AVA!

After using the lint roller on her robes (lucky that before she came to class, she was playing with Preston), the first-year lioness entered the classroom and.... WOOOOWW!!! She's levitating! "Live long and prosper, Admiral Flamsteed!" She greeted the Professor and making the weird sign with her fingers. Was that a password or something? Weird. She grabbed a parchment and wrote her name on it.

And gave a tap with her wand. This class would be fun, she hoped. Ava did see Yoongi was freaking out. Well, wasn't he trained to manage his fear of height at the treehouse days ago? She just shook her head.

Live long and prosper, Ensign Burton,” he greeted, pausing finally to take a look at his sundial watch.

Oh sweet solstice! Time to get this show on the road!

Swim!floating his way back towards the center of the space, positioning himself in the middle of the semi circle of desks in front of the blackboard, he cleared his throat twice and then clapped his hands together loudly.

"If all of you will please hang on to your seats, we'll get started," he announced with an unnerving twinkle in his blue eyes. "WELCOME TO ASTRONOMY! Which is NOT to be confused with Astrology which is nothing but seudoscientific hokum. For those of you who do not know me or have forgotten, I am Admiral Flamsteed, but you may also refer to me as Admiral Airey. Outside of class you may revert back to Professor Flamsteed or Professor Airey if you wish, or keep the Admiral." He was rather fond of the sound of it now. Or maybe it was the uniform that was just making him well up with pride. "A final reminder that you all should be wearing the designated pips as described in my class rules. Anyone NOT wearing them appropriately will find their participation marks for the term to be slightly lower than expected. Remember, there are no passengers on spaceship Hogwarts and each of you serves as an integral member of the crew that keeps this starship going."

Alright, now that those pleasantries were over and done...

"Forgive the irregular classroom arrangement, but as long as you all remember Newton's First Law, we shouldn't have any problems as we proceed through the lecture portion of things. Now...to get things started..." he chuckled to himself as he removed his wand from his enchanted breast pocket and waved it towards his desk to summon Pebbles to his hand and showed her off to the class. "Pebbles, my Number One, is a rock. Several of her companions will be making an appearance later in the lesson and are up for adoption for anyone interested once class has been dismissed. Now, rocks have many very important links to the field of astronomy and the history of our planet. Who would care to venture a guess as to one of these links?"
OOC: Class has officially started! Please do not RP your character arriving now unless you are willing to suffer the IC consequences <3

You do not need to wait for Professor Admiral Flamsteed to call on your student to answer, just go ahead and have your character raise their hand and assume that he has done do. Remember, wrong answers count just as much as correct ones, so do not feel like you HAVE to be right. Let your character speak for themselves and get creative!

Got a question? Please do not hesitate to VM or PM me. Or if it is IC go right ahead and ask it of Professor Admiral Flamsteed.

This lesson will continue approximately 24 hours from the time of this post.
