He swiveled his head, looking from Dima to the mangled pendulum and back to Dima. His stomach in knots, he had paled but had not moved.

Thornton seemed to be having a few problems with cobwebs and spiders and swinging pendulums, and Dima had nothing to do but watch. It didn't seem like the cleanest here, and he couldn't at all fathom why Thornton chose this room of all places to bring his cello. This couldn't be.... a PRACTICE room, right?

Was it safe to talk now?

"How come you're.... here?" Ew. "Wanna go practice somewhere else."
