Adi put down his quill as the enlarged photos came before the class. He recognised a few of the people. Four of them to be exact. He raised his hand. "Professor, this one here.'' He indicated to the woman. "Picture two. She was a talk show host named Oprah Winfrey.'' There. He had said his answer rather confidently.

She gazed over in an attempt to locate the fourth portrait. Ah, there it was. "Oprah Winfrey is correct! She had a very popular television show in the United States around the turn of the century." She nodded approval to both his answer and his overall bearing. He was already taking her advice to heart.

She missed her friend with all of his knowledge of human objects. "Can you help me find him?" At least her number 16 was correct; that made her smile but soon there was more nonsense being discussed.

Objects started flying towards them under the Professor's control. Ariel gasped. "It's magic! The Professors all do magic like Ursula." She wasn't sure how to feel about this.

Back to this again. When would they figure out what was going on? "We'll look for Scuttle after class. How about that?" What was she getting herself into? At least she was familiar with muggle stories because she was a muggleborn herself. "Yes, dear. You're at a school for magic. But our magic is good, not evil." The last thing she needed was a freak out.

He was right, though, so at least there was that. Tobias quickly jotted down all that stuff from the board, smiling to himself as he heard that the reason he'd thought of as to why they were never really mentioned was actually totally spot on.

Those pictures then. Toby looked up and looked at them all, but his attention was mainly captured by one in particular, and he threw up his hand.

"Number four! That's Princess Diana, from years and years and years ago," he offered confidently this time, eyes big and bright. That was the only one he thought he knew, mainly because he'd heard good things about her from a young age and thought she was super amazing.

She looked at all of the photos of the muggles. She squinted at them, trying to see if any of them looked familiar. She thought to herself that her parents were never the people who really told her about people from the past, unless they were magical folk. But the fourth one, that looked familiar. She just couldn't place it. She had a crown on, so Zhenya thought she was probably one of those Royal folks. She couldn't put a name to the face though, but she vaguely remembered some names. She raised her hand and said hesitantly, "Er Professor, the muggle on number four, is that the Duchess of… Cornwall? I mean, no, sorry, the Duchess of Cambridge? Er… what's her name… K-Kar… Kr… Ke… Oh, I'm sorry I don't know her name. I think it starts with the letter K though." She felt a bit flustered. She should have thought it more thoroughly before she raised her hand.

There was some of the personality she was used to from Toby! "Yes, the much-loved British royal. And she died almost a century ago now." And yet muggles still talked about her in a good light. That was rare for someone involved in politics. "Miss Burton, I am not quite sure where she was the duchess of, exactly. I would have to look that up. Or better yet, ask Professor Hadley." Muggle Studies was her area of expertise, after all.

The Slytherin wasn't going to be rude to the new teacher, so she just kept staring at the woman even after she had moved on from telling her off. She could say whatever, Agatha was not going to enga-

"THAT'S FRED ASTAIRE" Agatha yelled exclaimed as she pointed at the first picture.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "He was a DANCER. An amazing one!" Oh, this class COULD be good, MORGANA! FRED ASTAIRE!!

Were they going to learn about FRED ASTAIRE?? As in, they should all get up and dance. Agatha would be the best of the class, she new it.

She had wanted Agatha to get a bit more involved, but the girl had taken her extremely seriously. But better very loud involvement than sullen staring! "Yes indeed! Dancer, singer, all-around entertainer. And very good at it, as you pointed out."

Merlin. Girls.

Ethan shook his head and took down notes on his parchment. He didn’t know that there were other Master Numbers other than the usual, but he did know that the first three are more important than the rest. Most probably they’d dig deeper on that?

Or maybe not because now, Professor Tanner had posters of different muggle people afloat before them. Ethan noticed that most, if not all of the people shown, have achieved something great in their life time. He wondered if he’ll ever achieve anything in his lifetime. Ethan’s gaze shifted from one poster to another, and the last one caught his attention.

Oh yes, he knows the dude! His mother likes watching old, old movies when she was still alive, and one of them was directed by him! Ethan’s hand shot up in the air…probably missing his seatmate’s face by a millimetre, “That’s Steven Allan Spielberg, professor. He’s an awesome filmmaker.” He particularly loved Schindler’s List. He remembered forcing Mordred to watch it because the main character looked a lot like his dad. Like. Seriously.

She nodded in agreement. "Steven Spielberg is correct. Know any of his movies?" That last bit was open to anyone, not just Ethan. Who were the muggle film enthusiasts in the room?

Zeke stared. HOW COULD SHE NOT KNOW ABOUT THE NUMBER PEOPLE?! They were only like, obsessed with it. But then again, she wasn't a numbers person, techinically... she was a flying person, and he kinda wished they were doing THAT right now instead of this. Why had he come again? And the thought of doing EXTRA work was not sitting well with him... only, she said points. POINTS!... Professor Airey wanted him to earn more of those, said he had to be top of the school, and THIS little Lion liked a challenge.

"I can do that for you, Professor," he nodded, cause hello!!! WHO would say no to more points? No one EVER!

It was a shame though, that thirteen wasn't a master number, he was so sure that it was. Inking his quill, Zeke slowly started to copy down the additional notes from the board, looking up occasionally as the Professor lady continued to speak.

People? Muggle people? ............ Didn't she know he flunked History class in muggle school???

He had NO idea, though admittedly, some of the names sounded familiar. Like, that Churchill guy, he did things in the war right? The second big one.

"Excellent! I look forward to an interesting read, Mr. Rogers." Did he need a deadline? It couldn't hurt. "By the end of the week, if you could."

It just didn't make SENSE that Soph had never heard of them before, AND that everyone else seemed equally as confused. Was Tanner teaching from a different textbook than the rest of them? Merlin.

There were pictures floating around the room now, and Soph immediately recognized one very well - Princess Diana, that was - but then another one caught her eye. She STARED at the man, unblinking and squinting and making SURE it was who she thought it was. She had ONCE seen a picture of a man who looked a lot like that and she THOUGHT it was Cornelius Fudge, an old British Minister for Magic, but she had been WRONG and told that it was some Prime Minister, and if Tanner said these were famous MUGGLES, then... it must have been the Prime Minister guy and not Fudge, right?

With the slightest hesitation, Sophie's hand went up into the air. But then she realized she didn't recall the name just yet - it was a funny one, wasn't it? Something... churchy... Churcher... Churchall... Churchill? WINSTON Churchill, right? Even though she FELT not so confident about it, she recalled how much Tanner had liked enthusiasm last time and announced, "WINSTON CHURCHILL," when called upon, accompanied by a pointing at the picture and a BIG SMILE.

Wasn't it, though? Right?

Tiara was tempted to yell back her response, but decided against it. "Correct! The British Prime Minister for the Muggles during their infamous Second World War. If you don't know when that was, it was going on at the same time as Grindelwald's rise to power. They both mainly ended in 1945." More than they needed, but since it had come up it couldn't hurt to remind them of important world events.

Loud people being loud, Merlin! Heather had rub her ear a little after that one Slytherin girl gave her answer, since she was so loud that her voice had echoed. Anyway, she took a look at the photos annnnnd.......didn't recognize anyone. Except.......was that......? Hmm. Definitely looked like other pictures she'd seen of him. "Number five is Napoleon, I think?" Yeah, she still wasn't quite sure. It would make sense, though, with the Master Number of ninety-nine.

Angel decided to explain more about the guy. "He was the youngest Prime Minister in British History."

No one had taken a shot at the fifth picture until now. She had thought they may find this one the most challenging. "Right church, wrong pew, as my father used to say. Napoleon was alive at the same time as this gentleman." But the two were certainly nothing alike. Tiara turned to Angel."No, it isn't William Pitt the Younger, either." Did they some some help? "Hint: think music."

They'd never even learned about this stuff before. How. Even.

Maybe some people were just naturally good at Arithmancy? And this time, Zander was the one who laughed. Because pft, impossible.

Though, did creativity points count for house points? Because he wouldn't mind a few of those either.

But as for the pictures? He just stared for a bit. He didn't know any of these people and he was even muggleborn!! Actually no he recognized Churchill and the Princess since they were taught in his primary school history classes, but the rest of them were a complete what? But number three... He looked vaguely familiar. And was that a..... American flag behind him?

"I think I've seen number three in a movie or something.... OR maybe an American crime drama or something," not that he watched any of those. Just commercials were a thing and advertisements too. Or maybe he had seen that face in a history book somewhere... Weird. Either way he was American and Zander didn't know many of those, so he just sat and waited for another explanation.

She was a dancer after all and besides, she had seen many a Fred Astaire movie with her mom. That was not the answer that she would give though.

Raising her hand, Jasmine said, "Number three is Barack Obama" She was a dancer, yes, but she was also an Amercan who knew her history. "He was President of the United States", and a ground breaking one at that.

When Mr. Adair spoke up, she nodded. "He is indeed an American, though whether he ever acted in movies or crime dramas I couldn't say." But Jasmine thought she knew. "Yes, President Barack Obama, shortly after the turn of the century. Good." Had they gotten all but number 5?

"So I'm still looking for a correct guess on picture number five. Also names of Steven Spielberg movies," she added as an afterthought. "Anyone? Even if you already guessed, that's fine."
