Default Dress like the stars of the Wizarding World

People no matter what their age just love dressing up and that is why fancy dress parties are so popular. For those who are looking for some inspiration ahead of their next party, the wonderful Harry Potter films and novels are a great place to start. Entering the door to Harry's Wizarding World is as easy as saying "Alohomora". There are many characters for people to base their fancy dress ideas on, and because this is a world of fantasy, these costumes can be worn by party goers of all ages.

Those going to a fancy dress event dressed as character from Harry Potter can put together a costume made up from items of clothing at home, or alternatively, for that really authentic look, they can purchase costumes from one of the specialist fancy dress shops which have popped up in the shopping malls in the United Kingdom.

A popular character to dress up as is Harry Potter himself. To put together a costume and look like Harry an old black robe is needed, such as the type worn by students at graduation ceremonies. These are not always easy to find but a store which hires out these robes may be willing to sell an old one cheaply. Another option is to alter an old black skirt so it looks like a robe. Alternatively it should not be too difficult to find an inexpensive black skirt in a charity shop.

Harry Potter also wears round-rimmed glasses. If there is an old pair at home, they will do, but if not there are inexpensive “wizard geek glasses” available online or in fancy dress shops, so they are not difficult to come by.

To complete that Harry Potter look, the red and gold Hogwarts School scarf is a must. A good way to get this looking just right is to knit it from a pattern.

To dress as the other leading characters in Harry Potter the process is basically the same, with items of clothing either being bought in a fancy dress or charity shop, made, or found at home.

For Hermione Granger a pleated skirt in charcoal or gray is needed. If anyone has an old school skirt that still fits it will be ideal for the party. Gray tights are also a good option.

For any redheads out there, dressing up as Ron Weasley is the perfect choice. If the hair is long just tuck it inside the collar, as Ron’s is short. For those finishing touches, make sure the character looks the part by wearing a hoodless sweater, preferably with stripes.

Finally, don't forget that a wand is an essential part of any self-respecting wizard's magical kit. There's no need to go for anything fancy here - as long as you've got a few magical incantations ready any short stick will do! Dressing up for a Harry Potter Wizarding World Potter is fun and so easy to do. Just search around for costume, or visit a fancy dress store and be sure to have a wonderful time.
