| ❄ Chasing Waterfalls & Wonder ❄ | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Josephina wait a few more minutes for them to get situated with their rolls of exposed film and their goggles on their faces. As they were getting situated, she began to write the procedure on the board and even duplicated it onto parchments - one copy for each table. "I'm placing three labeled bottled of chemicals onto each table to share with those at your workstation. One is called CD-4, which is the developer. The other is a Bleach Solution, and the third, is a Stabilizer. The specific components of each chemical you don't need to be aware of, but they are hazardous chemicals." So that they DID need to be aware of. "The first step is to open your film canister using the bottle opener." Fina demonstrated with her own roll of film. "Carefully remove the film from the canister, making sure you don't touch the actual pictures as you could smudge or ruin it for development. Cut the film off the spool at the base, making sure you are as close as possible to the spool." She did this. "And cut off the tab as well, so both ends should be flat and straight. Slide the film onto the reel." - Pop open your film canister, using the bottle opener
- Remove the film from the canister and make sure you ONLY touch the film at its edges. Cut it off the spool at the base. Cut off the tab (the part that sticks out of an unexposed/new roll) as well, to make sure both ends are flat.
- Slide the film onto the reel, still make sure you only touch the edges
- Pour some of the CD-4 into an empty bin and place the reeled film gently into the chemical. Let sit for 3-4 minutes, gently moving the bin around to agitate the film every 30 seconds.
- Drain the CD-4 liquid from the film
- Pour the bleach solution over the film reel and let soak for approximately 6.5 minutes
- Drain the bleach solution and run water over the film to wash it off for 3-3.5 minutes (you can use your wand for the water)
- Drain your bin of residual water and then add the stabilizer to let soak onto your film for about a minute or two.
- Finally, wash the film of all chemicals. Run it under warm water for about 10 minutes; use the large buckets at the front of the room for the runoff water
- Remove the film from the solution and shake off any water. Your film is now ready to be printed! If you did it right, when you hold the film negatives up to the light, you should see familiar scenes of images around the castle!
ooc: so basically we're providing the whole procedure for the film development process. Walk through it at your own character's pace. The Professor IS doing it with you guys, so even if we don't post going onto the next step (several steps can be combined in one post), then you guys can go on and continue pretending as if we HAVE posted further steps ... pace yourselves. Like I said, you have ~48 hours from the time of this post to complete the procedure so even if we don't post walking you through it, pretend like we are (cause we'll hardly be on much of tomorrow at all, so if you have time to go ahead, DO IT.) I wouldn't include more then 3-4 steps in a single post though. Although there's no minimum post requirement. We're here if you have questions, but like i said, we'll barely be on tomorrow till the evening, so you can always pretend like we've answered it on IC level unless you want to wait.... Flag me in the post title if you need professor assistance.
