There was nothing for it. Using the time he had left before Hadley got started with the lesson, Toby started unloading his schoolbag, bringing out books upon books and soooooooooo many notes and stray quills until FINALLY...
"Aha!" Toby said triumphantly, a mechanical pencil now held up triumphantly before him. But, uh... oh. They were starting. The Hufflepuff hurried to shove everything BACK into his bag, and then lowered that onto the floor under his desk, and started with the note-taking.
Already, Toby realised he was probably not going to have any valuable input for this lesson. He grew up in a very muggle environment but then at the age where you started to learn all the ins and outs of muggle stuff, he'd started here at Hogwarts. So basically... he didn't have a clue how to answer. "Uhh..." Oh, but look, Toby's hand was up and he seemed to be attempting to answer anyway, so... that was happening. "I don't know about developing, but if you have a printer and a computer and stuff you can plug your camera into it and print the pictures off like that. Does that count?" "In a way, yes. It's method of digital processing." So yes, sort of? it wasn't technically the processing type though. Quote:

Is that something she was looking for. I mean it was a different way to develop photos. "For film processing, which is what we'll be specifically focusing on today, yes, we'll be using chemicals to develop it." Fina nodded at Kace. Hence the protective goggles. Quote:

Charms class and homework had been fun, but maybe it wouldn't be too bad learning how the other half did it in the muggle world. Benny listened as the professor started the lesson, paying attention as much as he could to what was being said. Two types of processing? The fourth year thought back to photos he may have seen to pick out what those two could be.
Magical and Muggle was too obvious.
Then he had a thought and raised a hand. "Are they color and black?" "Well that's a style of print. Not necessarily a way to process pictures." Which came it both black and white as well as colour, for both processing types. Quote:

"Or like, polaroids that come straight out of your camera." Those too. "Not really types of processing, but those are ways you can get yours photos processed, yes. Though polaroids would be a specific form of film processing, so good, yes." Quote:

She raised her hand, tossing her hair behind her shoulder.
"As Ruby said, Polaroids is a form. Palaroid is a brand name, I believe, but the gist of it is the camera has developing chemicals included, which speeds up the process without the need of a dark room or much else." Did that make sense, because she wasn't repeating it. "Yes, Polaroids are the all-in-one cameras, as it develops the picture right after you take it. They're rather nifty devices," Fina said, holding up her model Polaroid for show and snapped a picture of the class as an example. Quote:

But he could find none. Surely he hadn't forgotten them. All he could find was quills. Hmph. And there went the first question. Developing pictures with chemicals sounded more like a sure then to Adi than before. Not that he minded. It was a process he always wondered about.
He raised a hand to answer the question. "Black and white is one way, Professor." Peeeencil! Where art thou? Ugh! Adi looked back at the guy beside him. "You got an extra pencil I could borrow? Please?'' Was Adi even listening to what he was saying? "Black and white is a style of print, not a type of processing." Quote:

This was annoying. Still, he had a great answer for this one and he raised his hand. "No one takes pictures anymore with cameras...everyone uses their phones. So that's a thing," he said. Yup. It was a thing for sure. Everyone uses their phones; yes, she heard Caleb, but she just shrugged that off and interrupted his response as something else. "But yet, taking pictures with the phone is called digital photography. So whether you use camera or phone for digital photography, the result is the same." "So we have our two types of processing, which is not to be confused with style of print or where you process," Fina went on to explain, as she wrote the two types on the board behind her. "Film Processing and Digital Processing. If I may be frank, digital photography is rather boring. It uses an electronic image sensor to transpose the image as electronic data, as opposed to chemical changes on film. Digital photography also allows for more manipulation post-processing, but like I said, the process is boring. You snap a picture with a phone or digital camera and then plug it into a printer or computer and print. Nothing fancy. Just push of a button or two and you're done." "But film processing, now that's got some interest because of the use of chemicals, which is also why we'll be needing to wear goggles for today's lesson. You don't want to get these chemicals in your eyes." She paused, looking over the cameras on her desk again. "Before we get more into the process we'll be going through, let's talk a little more on cameras and how they work. What type of things do you think you as the photographer can control in regards to taking a picture?"
