"Good point," He nodded at the Ravenclaw. "It is indeed very important to be cautious all the time," He'd have to repeat this to make sure no one did something stupid. He glanced at her nametag. "Thanks for bringing it up, Miss Cooper," Hopefully everyone heard that! Quote:

And full of knowledge and reference to Herbology. He would like her answer, right? RIGHT? It was brilliant. She was brilliant. The professor seemed brilliant as well. At least he looked brilliant. "True, there's always a way to deal with each plant regardless of its dangerous or weird traits." The Slytherin was optimistic in a way. Believing that any plant could be dealt with no matter what. Professor Bentley and herself had agreed that when she had left school they would go exploring together. either since she could walk that is something Angel had wanted to do.
"It's something I want to do when I'm older. in fact Professor...." Angel stopped to wiped the tears away. "I mean the last professor said that she would help me." Angel really missed Professor Bentley. "I've always loved plants and it's something I've always wanted to do." Angel said truthfully. "I'd love to see what sort of plants were high in a mountain and what sort of plants were in the Amazon rainforest." Angel has only just learned about magical plants and well she wanted to study them more as well but she'd love to go on an exploration to study the different behaviours of the plants. "Basically what I'm saying is all plants are different and to better understand them you need to study them more." Angel wondered if she had lost the Professor with her answer so she decided to give him just a short version. She had no idea if he was like Professor Bentley or not so she would have to be careful in how she phrased her answers until she knew. Yeah, when he said a short story, he meant one of a plant or a tree or even fungi. Definitely not the girl's dreams and hopes for the future. Eh. He fought the urge to yawn and just nodded at her deciding not to interrupt. And was she …. Crying? Gryffindors were the weirdest. He was going to ignore that part. "Okay. " Oh, but the last sentence she said was good. He was glad he didn't interrupt. "Very good point," He said. Quote:

Why was she still talking? Hmm.. was the girl, okay? Was there something on his face? He was going to assume not. "You brought up correct and essential facts," He told the Ravenclaw. Quote:

Bending down slightly she pulled out some parchment and a quill from the bag at her feet and began to jot down a few notes about plants while she waited for the Professor to continue on with the lesson. Enthusiastic, that one was. Andrew wasn't startled by the loudness but he was surprised the question generated such excitement. But it was a good thing, yeah? Unless the boy was automatically excited like that all the time. "Yes, a cactus plant can store water in its stems," he nodded at the boy who seemed to have forgotten to mention his last name on the nametag. How hard was that. "Good answer, Kyroh" felt weird. Calling students with their firstnames but he probably will get used to it. Quote:

Others that weren’t green but weren’t dead either.
"Good point. Green is indeed a common color among plants, still it doesn't mean all of them are green. There are plants of all kind of colors," He nodded. Quote:

"Professor, this question seems a bit silly, doesn't it? It's far too open ended and there's not really a way to answer it without feeling stupid, unless that's your goal. It's like asking people to tell you anything they know about water." He raised an eyebrow and then as an afterthought he wondered where that came from? Like what? Why was he just openly RUDE to a PROFESSOR!? He was sure this particular professor wouldn't overlook it. He though everything was going on all so smoothly to a place full of Gryffindors. Andrew stared at the boy. He considered his words very carefully. "None of your classmates sounded stupid so far," he said giving him a significant look, except you he wanted to add but did not. "Feel free to remain quiet if you don't have anything useful to contribute." He shrugged. MOVING ON. Quote:

And here again they had the ritual of asking a million questions. She'd grown bored of these party games. The people are this era were not descended from entertainers, this was evident. "Plants die easily. You just have to set them on fire." That was what she knew about plants, and what she knew about people as well. .....
.....huh?
Was the Head Girl in her right mind ? Andrew pursed his lips and stopped himself from saying anything. "Miss Cambridge, you will head to my office right after the lesson," He wasn't going to interrupt the lesson and waste precious time dealing with this. He'd deal with it later. And he didn't even want to THINK about her answer. Talking about burning plants? Aloud, too!! Quote:

[/color] He missed the intellectual answers. Phew. It's been like a minute or two. This Ravenclaw was thinking outside the box. Andrew approved of that. "There are many theories on that, yes," he nodded at the girl. And he of course wasn't referring to the banana part but to the first part of the answer. As a Herbologist and a passionate person towards the plant, Andrew liked this answer. It was also different from other answers, this wasn't picked from a book. "photosynthesis is of great importance, very good," he glanced at the students who provided different information. But just to be sure everyone heard it he cleared his throat and started speaking loud. "The process in which the plant converts the sunlight energy into chemical energy that is stored in the form of carbohydrate molecules and other chemical compounds is called photosynthesis," He paused giving it time to sink in. "This process requires carbon dioxide and water, which is why we say that a plant needs those two things to survive." Well, most plants, anyway. "It is also how a plant releases Oxygen after a series of chemical reactions," Which wasn't their topic for the day so he was going to assume that that was enough. Quote:

He'd been reading a cool Arithmancy book last night, and the pictures looked cool. He was about to move on but one last Ravenclaw had something to say. An interesting something, too. "Very good, Mister Ogden. That is an interesting fact," he nodded at the kid.
When it seemed that no one else had anything to add, Andrew walked back to his table and leaned against its edge facing the students. "The reason behind the general question that I asked is for all of you to see how vast the studying of plants can be. There are indeed a few traits that go for many plants that we know and are actually very common, for example the color green, like Miss Mcgee mentioned." he paused before continuing. "Yet, not all plants share this particular trait, like Miss Andrews said. There are always bizarre examples. That's why we find that plants are categorized in many different ways; by colour, origin, effects, shape, size, life span , habitat, heat tolerance, abundance and so many other." Another pause to let it all sink in.
"Again, the goal behind all this is to make sure, like some of you pointed out, that when you are dealing with plants, you must keep an open mind to whatever uncommon traits you might encounter." Did they realize how important this was? He'd be able to tell soon. " If it has legs or doesn't need sunlight or if it make sounds or eats people, it doesn't mean it's not a plant. There are all sorts of plants out there." He hoped that his point was made.
Pushing himself off the table, Andrew started walking in the space between tables, "Now to support all this talk, can anyone give an example of any plant with an uncommon kind of trait? A magical or mundane plant." Was this hard? "You can use your textbook," They can't complain, now, right?! OOC: Please give only one example about ANY kind of plant that your charrie thinks has an uncommon trait. Whether it is color, behavior, shape, smell, use, NAME…etc. You only have to mention the plant's name and the trait. Class will continue in 12/16-ish hours. c:
