Merlin, she needed to study her visible planets. DING DING DING!
"Stellar, Miss Fischer," Airey grinned at the quidditch captain. Sweet solstice what he would have given to be able to do one last desk jump properly. It was his last lesson with the Gryffindor too and...
Alright. Old man feels. Not going to go there.
"Jupiter, Mars, and Neptune are precisely the three we will be able to see right now." Quote:

All for the brain, of course.
But if she did end up in the hospital wing it was SO not his fault! Quote:

Curiously she watched, remaining silent. So Jupiter and Mars were definitely involved while Saturn and Uranus had been ruled out. When Alice and Ella offered that the other planet was Neptune, she nodded her head in agreement. Yes, that choice made sense in her mind. And they were smart. He gave Miss Carrington a slightly disgruntled smile as he remembered that he had missed his after dinner stewed prunes. Quote:

Probably the ones they could see, was that it. He put his hands up again. "Professor can you see Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn." He loved Saturn it was his favorite. "No Saturn until about 5 am," he replied with a firm shake of the head. "But if you rise like the break of dawn..."
And yes, he did sing that last bit. Apparently stewed prunes were temporarily forgotten. Quote:

"RISE LIKE THE BREAK OF DAAAAAAAAAWN...........and you can see Saturn."
His already short attention span combined with old age resulted in an even more insane man. Quote:

"Professor could it be Jupiter, Mars and.....Neptune, since we've crossed out the other remaining Jovian planets," Sander gave his answer, trying to use some sense of possible logic in his explanation, while agreeing with Alice and Ella. He had said any combination would have been incorrect, not that Mr. Strand was entirely incorrect. The young man's answer of five had triggered the astronomer's Mr Grumpy McGrump Pants and made his response more senile, unfortunately.
Oh, there was the thought of stewed prunes again. Mmmmmmmhmmmm.....
But two thumbs way way up for you this time around, Mr. Strand. "Roger that!" Quote:

But the Puffer still had no clue about the other two. So instead he sat back and listened to the others put forwards their answers. Professor Airey was bound to give them the correct answer soon enough. Not meaning to, he was just thinking about how hungry he was for his prunes, he gave the Hufflepuff the stink eye. He wasn't exactly LOOKING at the young man, more like the door to the classroom and contemplating just how long it would take for him to hobble to the kitchens to get some.
Or maybe he could summon a house elf to bring him some? That seemed like a plan... Quote:

He wasn't going to sing again because his voice was already feeling a bit horse from doing so twice. Sweet solstice...were his singing days numbered as well?
That was a depressing thought.
"As many of you concluded, tonight we will be able to see Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune before it is time to dismiss the lesson," he announced as he tried to stand. "And, while it is NOT a planet but since so many of you are such.......fans for it, Pluto will also just barely be visible to the West." So there were four celestial objects he would like for them to look for in the night sky - although in his mind he was making Pluto optional because, well, NOT a planet. "While you can see these with the naked eye, that is not nearly as fun as seeing them close up by using a telescope," he continued, giving his wand another study tap against his desk to conjure powerful personal telescopes for each student in front of their desks. "Using the telescopes in front of you, you are to move about the classroom and try to spot each of these four celestial objects. You may not be able to see them all out of the same window, but thankfully the classroom is circular which gives you plenty of angles to work with. If you know how to manually focus one of these telescopes you may do so, but given the time constraint you may use Lens Focalis."
Finally standing, he hobbled over to the front of his desk and leaned against it.
"You have about 25 minutes to do this. First person from each house to complete this may receive a little bonus something." Smiiiiiiiiiiirk. "You may BEGIN!" for your RPing reference, he is what the sky looks like.
This was done using a online star chart that shows the sky at any date and time anywhere in the world. OOC :: hidden in various locations on the Hogwarts Grounds are the following symbols for Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto:
I have hidden 35 of EACH, so there should be plenty for you to find but you only need to find ONE OF EACH. Meaning 1 Mars, 1 Jupiter, 1 Neptune, and 1 Pluto.
To "find" the planet, you will need to quote the post that the symbol has been edited into and RP finding the planet in this thread. So this will look something like this: Quote:

Only ONE planet per post please and absolutely NO DOUBLE POSTING. This means you should have at least 4 thoughtful posts for this activity. You CAN post not finding anything if your character is the sort to struggle with this sort of thing <3
I have a master list of where everything is that I will use to check and make sure that no one has spotted the same post as someone else and will post periodically with updates.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me via VM or PM
You will have at least 36 hours from the time of this post for this activity
Please remember that while you OOC are looking at threads on the grounds, your character IC is looking at the sky
