The pain was visible in the clear blue depths of her eyes, but Lissy did everything to hide it. A forced smile, albeit small. A laugh, here and there. None of it was enough to hide the truth from her best friend.

"Lance, eat your food." The blonde woman murmured, avoiding Eli's gaze while she bounced her baby girl on her lap.

Avoiding didn't work with him, of course.

"Lis, talk to me.." Eli said, gently. "I'm here for you, always."

Lissy should know that.

"And say what? That he left us? I'm fine, Eli."

She was far from it.
