The blonde shook her head and looked back down at her notes, trying to add other facts she didn't know or remember from previous terms.
OH! A picture! Ella tilted her head to the side before noting the hammer! Was that...that Thor dude? He had a hammer, yeah? Raising her hand, she waited to be called on. "Professor, is that guy Thor? He erm...well I believe he is associated with thunder and lighting." And she gestured towards his helmet. "Oh and he is also known to carry a hammer." Ab turned from miss Potter to another Hufflepuff and nodded enthusiastically, "Yes. Correct. Does this hammer have a name though?" Smiling at the little girl. Quote:

He is the God often associated with the Rune Thurisaz." Alyssa provided her answer with a blush before slowly sliding down in her chair embarrassed. Oh she got it right this time. Botros nodded, his smile not leaving his face. "You don't have to apologize for giving a wrong answer, miss Potter." Her new one was true but.. "If you already knew everything about my subject, I would not expect you in my classroom." She was a student, a knowledge seeker, she was bound to make mistakes like the rest of class. "Correct answer, and you mentioned something very important. Great job." Quote:

"It's Thor and the object is a hammer,'' he said. "That is correct, but why would we bring them up in Runes?" He smiled, amused, at the boy. Quote:

"His weapon - tool, sorry, tool - is called a Mjölnir... it's supposed to be powerful enough to level mountains. It's a hammer in the comics, but in legend it can also be known as an axe or a club."
BEAM.
...Why were they talking about superheroes in Ancient Runes, though? Oh the sleepy Prefect was not sleepy anymore. Botros smiled broadly at him and raised his eyebrows praising his answer. "Great job, sleepy Prefect. It is called a Mjölnir." Quote:

... Oh? HEY! He had gotten his answer right! Or... half right. Awesome. Grinning slightly at his... success, Alec sat back and listened as Botros started talking about... runes and history and Odin and some other boring stuff. Did they have to know all of this? Because... that seemed impossible to the young Hufflepuff right now.
... Wait... runes have nature? O_O
Alec shook his head before... OH! A drawing! And OH OH OH! The Hufflepuff raised his hand because... well... HE KNEW THIS. Sort of. "Oh hey, it's THOR!" ... O_O "I mean... erm... that's Thor, the Norse God. Erm... and... that's his hammer..." You know, the weapon... thing. "Oh... and Professor? Isn't Odin somewhere in this story as well? Something to do with... Thor...?" He knew there was a Blake in the story. GRIN. Whao. Botros had no idea young boys were this enthusiastic about Norse gods! He should've dedicated this whole lesson to this almighty god - actually, he kind of did. Oh and this one mentioned something new and important too! "You're very close, my lad! Odin, yes. Thor is closely related to Odin." But whaaaaat is this mysterious relation? The professor waited for someone else to give it a try. Quote:

Along with his notes he scribbled a bearded stick figure man tied to a tree upside down on his parchment.
Hmmmm tied to a tree? Maybe he should stop tying Aegis to the one outside their home. No way was he gonna deal with an all powerful 10 year old if he forgot to untie him for 9 days. "Professor?" Oakey shot his hand up in the air after that small story. "I thought Odin created the runes after he sacrificed his eye for wisdom at Mimir's Well?"
He took one quick look at the image of the man Professor Botros show them. "That's Thor God of Thunder, and son of Odin. The hammer he is carrying is Mjolnir made by the dwarf Brok in a bet with Loki. It was known to level moutains"
Go On Professor Botros, bring on the next question! Oh a question first. Ab loved it when his students asked questions and argued about details. He moved slowly and closer to the Hufflepuff's desk. "That was only a snippet of his story, of course. There is much more to Odin's story than the world tree and Mimir's well." But that was a great question!! SO. Ab opened his mouth to recite the correct events of the sacred story only to close it again, "Actually. I think this would be a great addition to your assignment at the end of class." He beamed and crawl!walked with his cane to the front of class, facing the students. "I will need for you all to read Odin's story from your textbooks and try summarizing it." He loved that Hufflepuff kid already! "Mr. Gunter would do us a short representation of Odin's story then, next lesson." He offered the boy a small smile. That was the best way when you were confused about something.
"Your answer is correct, too. Great one, actually, for mentioning the dwarf." Quote:

"That's Thor, and that's Mjölnir." Theodore said with a nod. How it could come into an Ancient Runes class? He'd never really thought about it, but he did know the answer. "And the Mjölnir has a runic scripture on it, in a circle shape I think." He always though of it as.... a funny alphabet, ironically. "I dunno what it means or anything..." .... aaah! The funny alphabet boy had good brains in his head! Botros passed by him and patted his arm, "That is the answer I was looking for. There is a runic scripture on the Mjölnir. Exactly." See, not so funny. Quote:

One thing she did know now was...to never cross this Professor..EVER! And Violet couldn't help but feel embarrassed for Richard, especially since he had to since right on the Professor's desk..how terribly awkward and humiliating that must feel..
Before she could think another thought, the Professor had went back into his lecture and Violet's eyes immediately went back to her parchment writing away quickly as ever. She must have been writing so quickly because when she had finished writing she felt her hand cramping afterwards. She was actually massaging it a little bit and rotating her wrist after writing such thorough notes.
The Professor then went on to hold up a picture of this..very big looking man. Holding a Hammer..OH! Where did Violet know him from?! His name was right on the tip of her tongue! Elektra always mentioned him because he was apparently in a lot of her comics, but he wasn't just known for being comics! OH what was it?! AHA! Violet raised her hand and then said politely,"Professor, I believe that is Tor" Wait, it's not Tor! Add the H!
She shook her head quickly correcting herself with the correct answer,"I'm sorry Professor, I mean..His name is THOR..And the tool in which he his holding I believe is a...Hammer?" She then went on calmly,"And if I am not mistaken, he is affiliated with lightning and thunder..As well the fact he is one of the three sons of Odin?" ..... Tor? Botros had to chuckle faintly at the name before the girl fumbled with her words and said it right the second time. He nodded, smiling widely because she too offered something new to the answer. "Aha! The mystery of Mr. Summers has been solved." He glanced at Alec and gestured toward the girl, "Thor is one of Odin's most famous sons. Great job, miss." Was it just him or were Hufflepuffs acting like Ravenclaws in his class? Not that he minded! Quote:

OMGOSHHHHHH.
Bliss knew this! Sort of. Anyway. Hand raised, she quietly cried out, "That's Thor!" BEAM. Genius, wasn't she? OH and what was the instrument in his hand? It was the..M..M..Mjölnir!? MAYBE. Her hand was still raised, so she just went on as if she hadn't stopped. "I believe it's called the Mjölnir and...er, I think, though I'm not sure, that it's got runes on it.....I think," Bliss said. She'd started off confidently, but ended up getting confused and unsure, she might still be completely wrong.
Well...at least she'd tried, right? Yeah? Yet another enthusiastic Hufflepuff. Botros continued his pacing between the desks, smiling and nodding. "Very true, good answer." He was proud of them. Quote:

Then...what? Groaning a bit, the Slytherin boy let out a deep sigh. Sitting on an old man's desk for the whole class instead of being with his girlfriend? An old man instead of a pretty girl as his partner for the class? What kind of a losing was that? Trying not to roll his eyes, he reluctantly stood up and picked up his bag only to walk to the old man's desk. Then he dropped the bag next to the man's desk and flopped himself on the the old man's desk facing everyone in the class.
He would not be complaining if the teacher had been an attractive woman but this was embarrassing. He sat silent as the old man professor went on talking and talking about this Odin guy. ''And who says this Odin dude is qualified enough to bring order and clarity to our lives?" he murmured not really feeling comfortable carrying half of the old man's weight on his shoulder. He glanced back at the blackboard and some drawing of a dude with and ugly face and a hammer looked back at him.
Great... Just as long as the Slytherin boy didn't... whisper to anything on his desk, everything will be cool and normal. Yes, Botros knew that whisper was more than just a whisper. Tsk tsk tsk, teenage energy being wasted. Quote:

Then Belle saw the professor putting more notes on the board. Belle copied them down in a fast pace. She even made short hand notes. Then he asked a question and showed a picture on the board. Belle remembered studying him. Belle raised her hand, "Professor, that god is called Thor. He is the god of thunder and lightning. He also has that hammer to summon the lightning. He is one of the three sons of Odin." Belle knew about that much. Then something clicked in her head. "Also he is associated with Loki!" Ab's attention flew to the next child, he tried to quickly reach her and pat her head but almost tripped over one of the piles on the floor. He balanced himself with his cane and the closest desk to him and was satisfied by just nodding and smiling from afar. "Great answer. Correct, too. Loki is indeed associated, very much, to Thor." But who exactly is Loki? Botros was liking this question game. But Loki was for later. Quote:

Botros stood speechlessly in his place. It was those kids who made him squirm and struggle for an answer. "Uh, I'm sorry to disappoint you, kid. But I'm not even half good as Thor, which is this person's name." Oops. Quote:

She raised her hand as soon as the answer popped into her head. "Professor, forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think that is Thor. Thor is the god of thunder and lightning, and I think he's the god of oak trees too. He is the son of Odin." But why was he holding that stupid hammer? She had no clue what the hammer was called, but she knew it was some long foreign word. "And he's holding a hammer. I'm not sure of the specific name, and I'm not sure quite why he carries it, but if I had to guess, it was probably for him to use as a weapon?"
Oh wow, now that sounded stupid. Why would a god use a hammer as a weapon? He nodded vigorously at her, mostly to encourage her on. The same lecture for Potter, though. "There is no reason to be sorry, dear. You're still a student. You're bound to make mistakes. You are correct, though. Good job." Quote:

He raised his hand. "That's Thor, God of thunder and lightning. He's a Norse god and since ruins come from those Scandinavian countries, they must be related in some way. That thing he's holding is his hammer. And I guess...you use a hammer to chisel things in the stone and make the runes?" he said, wrinkling his eyebrows. "In the comic books he uses it to beat up enemies," he added. Just thought they should know that. Oh, very interesting. Botros made a few steps toward this boy's desk and leaned on it, he needed a break from all the standing. "I like your theory about his hammer. A source or two mentioned Thor using his hammer for runes rather than a weapon, but I'm not sure how reliable their researches are." Looking into the boy's face, he smiled widely. "Great thinking." Ok so that was that Muggle hero. "That is Thor and his hammer, Mjölnir, Kat said. It had runes on it though but Kat didn't know what it said. She hasn't seen his hammer apparently. She wasn't Thor to know. Without moving from Greingoth's desk, Botros nodded at the girl. "Yes, correct." Quote:

Nerds FTW.
Raising his hand, again..."Thor, sir." THE MIGHTY THOR! "...and what he's holding is his hammer." Duh... "...I know that there were some tie-ins to the Younger Futhark with writing his hammer's name on pendants and things of that nature, and replacing the letters with corresponding runes."
Mjölnir!
Yea, he was geeking out a bit. Whatever.
Still not moving from the kid's desk. It was comfortable. Oh the Captain and cane-to-be gave a correct answer too. Ab was so glad to have a sportman and a thinker in a student. He smiled widely at him and nodded, "That's true. Great job mentioning the charms and pendants." Quote:

Turner.
The Slytherin knew that name though he did not know from which house he was. He hoped it wasn't the Snake house.... But when the guy stood up and walked to the desk Daichi couldn't help but give an dissapointed look when he saw the badge on Turners robe. Great, Slytherin... He was glad that the Professor hadn't taken points.
Then his gaze went to the blackboard when a picture of a person was drawn on. Who the guy was and what the thing he was holding for? Daichi scratched his head and his black hair moved a bit on his head. After some thinking, the Slytherin came to the conclusion that he had no idea. But as a Prefect he thought that he needed to say AN answer. "That's Thor" he said. "and that's a hammer, i think. I have no idea what it is for though" Aw, Botros didn't want to make the Prefect embarrassed. He smiled softly at him and nodded encouragingly. "You're correct, he is Thor." Quote:

West grinned to himself and then popped his hand up. "That's Thor and his hammer, Mjollnir, which is pretty cool like, it means 'that smashes', and now there are similar words in other languages what mean lightning, like 'molniya' in Russian." It was cool how they were all linked, words and stuff. "Brok and Eitri made it for him and it flashes lightning whenever it gets thrown." Abraham had to maneuver himself almost completely on Greingoth's desk, to look at the excited Slytherin. Oh, the same boy who had an extra runes book! He should ask to see it after class. "Great job, mister Odessa. Brok and Eitri are the dwarves who made it for him." There is more to the story but that was already in their textbook. Quote:

She raised her hand to answer, "Is that Thor with his hammer? I know he's the son of Odin, so that could tie it in to our lesson. And I'm sure his hammer must have runes on it, but I'm not sure which ones. Maybe Uruz for strength?"
And all of that business about Odin hanging himself as a sacrifice on a tree was really freaking her out. Why would he do that? How did he learn anything from being dead? And why...letters? That seems a little lack luster for a reappearing act. Nope, she didn't really grasp how that all worked out for Odin at all. And wasn't he a god? How could he die then? Aren't they immortal? She was all sorts of confused now, but tried to listen all the same. Aaaaaah! Botros clapped twice for this Ravenclaw, another great answer. "Yes, dear, one of the runes etched on his hammer is thought to be Uruz, the very rune we're going to dwell on in a bit. Great job." Ravenclaws shone again. Quote:

Too much?
Maybe a little. But she was after all obsessed with Norse mythology. It was where her family had came from before they went to Australia. Really did Johanson sound like an Aussie name? Nope.
Thats because it was germanic first. "And his tool is his hammer. Though if you REALLY think about it Thor's hammer is actually a kind of Mjo-mojn gah...Mjölnir?" She left the end hoping she'd said it right. It was after all not a common word. "If I had to guess it probably has the rune of Sig on it - seeing thats the rune for lightning..." Another excited Ravenclaw, Botros listened to her smiling. "It's widely known that Loki is the half brother of Thor, maybe. But it's not how it is in most academic sources." Some mentioned Loki being half-brother to Odin. That was why Botros did not want to dwell on this relation with Loki just yet.
"Great answer." He settled back on Greingoth's desk. Quote:

"Professor," Mo's hand went up again. "Thor is part of the same pantheon as Odin, and I bet he used runic mojo to soup up that hammer of his." Or maybe vice versa? It was all conjecture at this point anyway. "His hammer appears in a lot of artwork and on runestones all over Scandinavia too. Funny that it looks kind of like a capital T, so whenever you see the hammer, it's like a big sign Thor left behind saying, "THOR WAS HERE"." Pause. "Oh, and Thursday is Thor's Day. We should all carry around hammers on Thursdays." One of the brilliant kids in his class so far... only he spoke so casually about such a sacred subject. Thor does not "use runic mojo to soup up that hammer of his", that's... an interesting way of putting it but Ab wasn't really comfortable with the expression. However, he smiled widely at the kid - it was a kid talking afterall. "Great answer, my boy. Many historians believe that the mark of his hammer is indeed a deliberate sign of his earlier presence, or even an accidental T that appeared there just to offer some of Thor's ultimate power." Guesses, guesses. Quote:

She raised her hand anyway. "That's Thor, and...I have no idea what he's holding. It looks like a huge stone attached to wood, though," she said. Yup. That was her best answer. "Maybe we're discussing it, though, because he used it to create runes? Or, to pound them into objects?"
Ehh...she didn't know. Turning around to another kid, Ab saw the Prefect badge on the girl and the last name of hers. He was momentarily distracted, trying to check if she was indeed a Greingoth like the boy he was using the desk of. Oh yeah, she was. Interesting.
"Great guess, Prefect Greingoth. The hammer, the smasher, was used mostly as a weapon though" Thor was not as runic as Odin in personality, alas. Quote:

Sky thought about going a different track than her classmates who obviously thought that comic books were equal to textbooks, but just decided to comment on it instead. Though, they probably could've used the help in the looks department." Yep, that was the truth about Thor. Could probably use him now, with the popularity of Ikea and all that. Botros blinked at the Slytherin girl. "Perhaps you would like to add something useful to our class...?" He didn't mind her comment though. It was true, maybe. Even if it hurt him to know that they knew Thor from comics rather than runic textbooks. Oh and she did answer correctly. "Good answer, though." Quote:

They say that Thor has the ability to throw the hammer at whatever he wants and it will never miss. It's strong enough, or maybe Thor is strong enough, to use it to crush mountains." She paused a bit, trying to remember something about the runes that might have something in common with Thor. They were both old? Like, ancient history old? No, maybe that wasn't it. "Well, the rune Thorn is similar to Thor. Maybe we are going to be looking at that rune." It was a bit of a guess. Another great answer! Botros loved those kids. "A Mjölnir." He helped her but then nodded approvingly. "You are very, very close, yes. Great job." The rune they were about to discuss was related to Thor in a way, yep. Quote:

*beams* Uhhhh... Botros studied the picture again, did it change? Oh no, it is the almight Thor. He felt a slight pang on his chest from inside (a heart attack?) before smiling and looking at the girl, "I'm pretty sure you don't live in Asgard, do you dear?" Bad joke. Because even in Asgard, Thor was NOT a roofman. Oh Merlin, no. "That is Thor, one of the Norse gods." Maybe she should write that down? Draw him too? Quote:

Like this Thor dude is all up in some muggle comic books. This a class on SUPER HEROS?" he blurted out in the direction of the professor. "Don't steal my questions." The professor deadpanned at the boy. "I asked the exact same question but way more politely and efficeintly. Why would we discuss Thor, the Norse god, and his Mjölnir in Ancient Runes?" Pause. Botros frowned at the boy then, "We certainly are not getting our information from muggle comics. Have you not opened your school books when you bought them?" If he had, he'd see a lot of Thor in them. Tsk tsk tsk. Quote:

The fourth year did not try her best to pay attention to what the professor was saying, and just stared at him with lazy eyes through his explanation about... something.
Suppressing a yawn, her eyes were all watery when she noticed a picture on the blackboard. Oh cool! Picture! She wiped the tears from her eyes and curiously looked at it. Ehehehe, funny picture! For some reason that man and his... hammer thing reminded her of Alice. She didn't know why, though, it just did.
Thor? Hm, Sophie had heard of him, but clearly, all of her classmates knew a lot more than she did, which didn't surprise her at all. That hammer thing seemd to have an extremely odd name, by the way.
Her attention shifted to the things that were covered and she started pondering what those could be. OH, imagine if they got to play with those kind of hammer things! That would be pretty fun. Didn't they have soething to do with lightnings and whatnot? Cool!
After she suppressed another yawn, the badger blinked and finally focused her eyes on the professor again. She was having a very hard time understanding what he was saying.
Then Oakey said something. Awwww, how... what? He did sound like he knew what he was talking about, though. The fact he was so interested in that kind of stuff really amused her.
...
.......
Would they ever learn any kind of spells in that class? ...... this one was about to nod off. "Please don't snore." Botros reminded her and motioned for her to sit up straight. Quote:

"Umm... and I think... either ancient runes was the language used at the time Thor was believed in back in the olden days... or maybe the stories and legends about him were recorded in the runic language?"
That was a completely vague answer. Heh. I guess that meant she couldn't get it wrong. "Correct answers, for my first two questions. Good guess for my last question, but that is not why we're discussing Thor now." He smiled at her. "Like some of the students mentioned, there is an important runic script written on his hammer that is used widely." They'll get to that in a bit. Quote:

Are we talking about him, because he was int he time of the Runes Alphabet?" She really wasn't sure, but she would never not guess at something in class. Aw, that's a sad answer. Botros shook his head softly, "He's definitely not from a muggle's device. But good effort, dear." Quote:

But nonetheless he looked at the picture, he had no idea who that guy was. He listened as everyone answered, they were all coming up with the same answers so he figured they must be right, he very slowly put up his hand since they were supposed to "What everyone else said" he said before sitting back and wondering what the connection between that hammer dude and the pile next to him that he wasnt allowed to touch was. Were they going to be hammering stuff too? cause that would be cool to do. He smiled and nodded at the boy, "Okay." Quote:

Listening to some of the other answers. She summed it up "Thor god has a magical hammer...Hammer makes runes?" Yeah that was the jist of it all right? She wondered if Professor Botros was just going to give a history lesson... She looked down at the notes she had taken and added some more of what he had said earlier and scribbled down Thor under what she had wrote about Odin. "Great effort, dear. The hammer does not make runes, though, no." He smiled at the Ravebclaw. Quote:

Who was this Tor, anyway?
Obviously, Elise was not very good at this subject. Nope. Aw, another silent one. It's alright, they'd get used to his class. Quote:

No it should be him because this guy also carries a hammer thing. "I bet that is Thor, professor,"she replied. Now that the image of Thor in Avengers was very clear in her mind. She remembered that when she was watching it with her friends, she disliked him very much because he was the one who caused the whole big mess. "And that would be his hammer?" Well she didn't really have a specific for that hammer thing which it should be called in another way, something sounds more frightening. "Your bet is won then." He smiled and nodded his head at the girl, "Yes, that is his hammer, the crasher." Quote:

Hand up. "He's a carpenter, Professor. And the tool he's holding is a hammer." Duh! And as the answer for the why question. "We're going to make a rune by using a hammer." Sound legit to him. ............ roofman, carpenter. Let's just be glad Thor was not around here today, yeah? Yeah. Botros cleared his throat and shook his head softly, "No, that's not.. a carpenter." Oh Merlin. "That's a Norse god of thunder and lightening." Quote:

The third year opened her eyes blinked at the surroundings. It took her a couple of seconds to realize that she had fallen asleep during the lesson. Had someone noticed? Did the professor deduct points? But naah she would've woken up. So hopefully it went unnoticed.
Listening to what students were talking about, Cassia gussed that it had something to do with a picture. she shook her head at the man in the picture because she couldn't recognize him. Was she supposed to? But still, she took a deep breath, gathered her effort and raised her hand. "....There are runes written on the thing he's holding." It was a wild guess and don't mind her voice that sounded hoarse. She just woke up. One of the silent ones just woke up, hooray! Botros smiled and nodded at the young Slytherin, "Good morning dear. And yes, you are correct." He paused, maybe he should go and sit on her desk for a while in case she fell asleep again? "Please don't drool on the desk." While she took the next nap. Okay, enough answers. Botros lifted himself off the boy's desk and went to stand by Mr. Turner. "Most of you gave great, correct answers. To sum it all up I'll rephrase them." They didn't need to go into details about Thor, this was not History of Magic. "Thor, Thorr, Thunar, or even Donar is the person in the picture. His name means "The Thunderer" which, as we'll see soon, is legit." He leaned slightly on the boy's shoulder, again. "He is son of Odin and Jord. The Hammer-God of thunder and lightening, agriculture and craftsmanship. Thor also is the God of defense and strength, and we'll focus on this today." He stole a glance toward the piles, with a smile on his face. "His magic hammer is known as Mjöllnir, as some of you mentioned it means The Smasher, the Crasher or even The Destroyer." It depends on which source you refer to. "It's forged by the Dwarf Brokk, hits everything that Thor aims at and always comes back to his hand. Thor can reduce its size to hang it around his neck instead of always carrying it around with his hand." Useful.
"He, the Almighty Thor, is champion of the Gods and enemy of the Giants, also a protector of mankind." He smiled at the boy who mentioned this. "He has a magic belt called Megingjardar, which means "Strength Increaser", and drives a chariot pulled by two Giant male goats." They, unfortunately were not going to see those in class. "With all those weapons, Thor forms an invincible power and champion against his enemies." Pause. ""It shall never fail, no matter how big nor how hard that which it smites may be; no matter how far it is thrown, it will always return to your hand; you may make it so small that it can be hidden in your bosom, and its only fault is the shortness of its handle." As Brokk, the dwarf who created this hammer, had described it."
"Thor is a size-shifter, he is terribly heavy and hot. Although he is sometimes over-hasty in judgment, he is a totally reliable friend and battle companion. He has wild red hair and beard, always dresses in battle dress." Motioning at the picture behind him for evidence. "There are so many legendary stories about Thor, his bravery, his strength and the victorious battles he went through."
Botros paused, leaning on his desk. "The main reason we're discussing Thor and his hammer, is the fact that most of his power and control of Thunder and Lightening comes from runic magic that the dwarf who made Mjöllnir etched on it, and then was magicked by his father, All-father, and father of runes Odin." He went to the blackboard and drew a set of runes. "It's very difficult to know what exactly is written on the Mjöllnir that gave this incomparable strength but most resources point at the direction of this set of runes." He pointed at the blackboard. "Who can define some of those runes, and tell us their meanings." ooc:- Do not edit your answer after you posted it.
