Yes because no connection to civilisation was the smart thing to do when you were looking after someone who was sick and might need actual medical expertise instead of the doddering affection of a sometime-astronomer with stars in his eyes and his head in the clouds. Althea made no comment, not willing to validate that rubbish with any sort of verbal response.

...

...

Grey eyes followed the roses into the trash can, and then flicked back to regard him at that little dig and the follow up. "I'm sorry about your sister." She said quietly, and she meant it. She was close to her own sisters after all, and couldn't at all imagine losing any one of them.

But what the HELL was he doing here then? If it was her, one of her sisters, there would be no WAY that she'd be pursuing someone right after. And by his own account he'd been shut away in the mountains or something, so it had to have happened recently too, and even if it wasn't immediate, well, it was sometime in the past six months and that was shocking to her. And it worried her a little. If Eddie was bent on this single-minded pursuit of her in an attempt to block out his grief well, that wasn't exactly healthy. And to throw it at her like that, like he was playing the sympathy card or something... ugh.

But no. She had said her piece. "I told you that you can owl me and I might consider meeting up with you to talk, but you need to leave now, and don't think I won't call security to escort you if you refuse to go."
"Thank you." Edvard said quietly. "It was my sister that pushed me to come see you. She wanted me to make up with you after I told her about the feast." Camilla had kept on pestering him about it right up to her death. If only she was still here now. Shaking his head he did his best to not tear up in front of Althea. He needed to show strength and that he meant what he said because otherwise she wouldn’t take him seriously.

As Althea again told him to leave Edvard simply mouthed, eyes narrowed. "NO, I’m not leaving. I don’t want to make the mistake of not fighting for you and our friendship when I can. I want to get to know you Althea and I’m prepared to fight for that right." To put action to words the ex-astronomer walked over and sat down on the sofa again.

Placing his arms in his lap Edvard said calmly. "Call security if you want Althea. I meant everything I’ve said. Our friendship is dear to me and I’m not lightly walking away from it." He usually didn’t like confrontations or getting into the middle of fights but this was for something he valued and cherished. If security had to come then so be it.
