Thankies everyone! This one is quite a bit shorter than the others but I promise the next chapter will be longer! Ii felt quilty about taking so long anyway

Chapter 3

There were only a couple of children that Dave and Jessie had taken in. There was a little blonde girl who was little older than seven, the mousey kid with the big mouth, a teenage boy with dark hair and Daniele.

Daniele was chatting with the little blonde girl, looking perfectly pleasant and friendly until he walked inside the room; she scowled at him and looked away. The little girl looked at him strangely, not meanly like the mousey boy, but curiously, like a wizard was some sort of foreign creature that she had never seen before. Quirinus looked back at her, raising one eyebrow at her. The little girl blushed and turned back to talk to Daniele.

“Quirinus, come sit down at the table.” Jessie called her back to him as she set about dishing out the dinner onto several colourful plates that looked like they were created by children.

Quirinus sat down at the table next to the dark haired teenage boy who looked up and smirked as he sat down, as if he knew a joke that no one else did. Jessie came around to where he and the dark haired boy were sitting and placed two plates in front of them, the one that was placed i front of Quirinus of significantly larger than the other boys.

“Jessie? Why does he get more than I do?” The dark haired boy complained, eating up his dinner extremely quickly and eyeing Quirinus’ dinner with an almost concerning longing.

“Logan,” Jessie said sternly, “Quirinus has just come back from the forest and is very tired. You have been lazing around at home.”

Logan sulked moodily while Jessie said this, eyes averted from Quirinus or Jessie. Quirinus quickly finished his dinner after that.

Jessie cooking, to say it nicely, was not the best. The soup they had had been made from home grown vegetables and not the nicest quality either. Quirinus pretended to enjoy the food anyway; it was nice to have food even if it was not the best. He had lost all of his galleons in the Black Forest when the vampire was chasing him.

“Our Danny grew the vegetables for our soup.” Dave said with a warning glance at Quirinus as if daring him to criticise his wife’s cooking.
Quirinus nodded finishing his mouth full of soup and swallowing slightly too quickly, scorching his throat and tongue. He coughed and Jessie threw him a concerned glance.

“I’m fine.” He passed off, leaving Jessie looking relieved and Daniele looking like she had just missed an exciting party.

“All right then, you’ll be sleeping in Logan’s room tonight.” Jessie said, looking at Logan sternly who had turned in his seat to argue some more.

“Oh, that’s good.” Quirinus said, getting up from his seat, Logan got up shortly afterwards while Quirinus stood awkwardly waiting for him to do so. Logan sauntered off, leaving Quirinus to follow him down the hall and Daniele giggling still at the table at his discomfort.
