She couldn't decide if the girl had been making fun of Hufflepuffs or not, but something in her tone... said she had been.

Kurumi smiled as August was able to make his mark. She knew how the boy had been so nervous, growing up muggle-born and not knowing anything about magic. She was glad to hear the tone of confidence in his voice.
And then they were given the task of coming up with their own personal spin on how to remember the Order of Operations. Kurumi pulled out a piece of parchment from under her textbook and began to scribble her name and other things on it. After a few minutes she found herself with two options for remembering it that were rather fitting, one perhaps a bit more than the other, and half a piece of parchment with words scratched out here and there.
"I can't decide between Parasols Expand Momentarily During Augurey’s Songs and Pinching East Makes Dough Astonishingly Sweeter," Kurumi said before resting her chin in the palm of her right hand.
Both were quite personal and easy to remember for her. Only problem is that she was revealing one of her baking secrets, but only during a full moon. Other days you needed to pinch south. Hearing what almost sounded to be a tongue twister at first, Fina looked over toward the fourth year next. "The second one sounds less like a tongue twister." Just her suggestion. Maybe. She mused aloud. Hadley really wanted to say something along the lines of 'what about the half-bloods' but fought against it. Seriously, what was with people needing to point out blood status? Like it mattered?

That didn't sound all that terrible, but she was sure she could think of something else she would remember easily. Jotting it down in her notes anyway, she kept thinking about another example. It had to be relate to something she liked or maybe even something knew about.
Raising her hand again, she smiled. "Prefect explore many dungeons at sunset?" Okay, that was just funny to her and she would probably so remember that one. "Do they?" Fina asked, upon hearing the next ... question? Her eyes automatically seemed to flicker over toward Treyen and then Kurumi, before back to the Ravenclaw. Alyssa looked at the meanings and suddenly it dawned on her, this was just like the Muggle Math version of BODMAS which was Brackets, Order of Operation, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction. At least now PEMDAS was looking familiar. But she laid thought aside for awhile. She needed to come up with a phrase for PEMDAS.
Alyssa thought for awhile and wrote down the possibilities in her notebook, scratching out those that were ridiculous or didn't make sense. When she finally came up which she was happy with, Alyssa smiled, raised her hand and said:

The more Presley tried to some up with something that made any kind of sense, the more she began to like the idea of pretending she had an aunt Sally. Most of hers were a nonsensical string of words, that all started with the correct letter. She sighed. She could simply remember "Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction" couldn't she? Glancing over at the Ravenclaw's parchment, Fina frowned at how she seemed to be struggling to come up with something she was satisfied with. "You'll think of something. I'm sure. Harvey just froze reliving the dumbest mistake he had just done. He wanted to run out of the lesson but he didnt want to risk losing the points he had gained so he stayed where he was silent as a doormouse.
With a blank expression on his face only listening to what others were saying. "Your first phrase actually worked better, since it didn't include an extra word..." Hadley said, slightly befuddled by the change in heart. Even if it did embarrass the person it was talking about, sometimes that was better. Helped one remember.

That phrase was something she remembered too, though she didn't have an Aunt Sally either. She did have an Aunt Grace though, and she always wished she could've made the saying "Please excuse my devious 'dear' Aunt Grace." Unfortunately, subtraction didn't start with a "G," so she could never actually use it.
She was supposed to make up her own phrase to remember it by though? This ought to be interesting.
Picking up her quill and dipping it into her ink bottle, Vashti starting jotting down whatever came to mind.
