I always thought most kinds of owls are considered endangered species and that laws prohibit you from keeping them as pets, unless you have a special license ... hard to believe you can just buy them in pet stores in GB! But I guess different countries have different regulations on that - I live in Germany and I've never heard of anyone owning a bird of prey unless he's a professional falconer, wildlife preservation laws are kind of strict here.
