The professor glanced at the door as if checking for something and then walked over to the purple table.

"The next type of Muggle Magic is called platform magic. It can also be known as parlor magic," "club magic" or "cabaret magic". This is done in a much larger scale than the first. Some tricks of this type that are well-known include cutting a person that is inside a box in half or making a person who's lying down levitate in the air after the table below has been removed. " she paused and then continued, "This type of magic usually requires an assistant or an audience member in order to make it happen." She flicked her wand and a screen dropped down on the edge of the stage. The stage lights dropped and a video began playing on the screen giving an example of platform magic.

Actually a pretty cool trick from America's Got Talent a few seasons back!

After the video finished, she glanced out at the students again, "Some famous platform magicians are Penn & Teller and the gentleman you just saw, Kevin James." she paused as the screen disappeared into thin air. "Can anyone give me more examples of platform magic? Now remember that this isn't making huge items disappear or anything crazy like that...we aren't to those tricks yet..."
