Chapter Twenty-Seven - Winter Time
As winter came, the castle became cold and miserable. People hurried through the corridors between lessons and huddled around the fire at every chance they had. Izabella was becoming increasingly moody, missing Sirius yet trying to keep her mind clear at all times.

She knew that Lucius would of reported what she had let slip about Sirius and she needed to be prepared for any interrogations from Voldemort. At night she lay in bed, wrapped in thick blankets, staring at the ceiling unable to sleep. Her mind was in turmoil. Worrying how much Lucius had told Voldemort and wanting to talk to Sirius, yet knowing that Umbridge was watching her closely.

She hated being away from Sirius. When she wasn't with him, or at least thinking of him, it gave her time to think about Lucius. Shaking herself hard whenever she found herself daydreaming, she switched her thoughts to Harry, but she hardly ever saw Harry and when she did he was distant with her. He constantly looked lost, or angry. But he didn't want her help.

Her insides were being torn apart and it was showing. Her usually shining dark hair had become dull and hung around her deathly pale face like curtains, framing her dark sunken eyes. Her slim frame was decreasing rapidly along with her appetite and she always avoided mirrors. Her reflection showed a Death Eater and it scared her.

Izabella had taken to avoiding Snape; whenever she was near him he bombarded her with worries and potions to try and make her healthier. Eventually she snapped at him, quite harshly, and he stopped. Although she often caught him casting her concerned looks, which she always ignored.

As the Christmas holidays crept closer, Izabella became more frantic to return to Grimauld Place. She was lying in bed, curled up against the cold, when she heard voices from outside her room. Frowning, she listened for a moment but there was quiet once more so she rolled over and squeezed her eyes shut, attempting to get some sleep. Again, there was the sound of hurried feet outside her room and she sat up, listening intently. When the footsteps returned, increasing in numbers, the sound of hushed voices echoed around the corridors. Izabella slid out of bed, wrapping her arms around herself tightly and opened her door. McGonagall was leading Ginny and the twins along the hallway.

“What's happened?” Izabella whispered, shivering as her feet stepped on the icy stone floor.
“Arthur's been injured... On duty.” McGonagall responded quietly, her face tense. Izabella glanced at the Weasley's and sighed sympathetically. Their bleary faces looked confused and scared.

“But how did Harry know that Dad was hurt?” Ginny asked sleepily. Izabella whipped her head to look at McGonagall who nodded slightly, looking at Izabella with a concerned face. She felt like she'd swallowed a bucket of ice water.
“Is Harry with Dumbledore? I need to see him.” she said, her jaw tense.
“No Izabella. You can't. If Umbridge...” McGonagall faded off, looking about the corridors quickly then pushing the Weasleys forward. “Just stay here. I'm sure Dumbledore will come and speak to you soon.” she said firmly before rushing off towards the Headmaster's office, pushing the children ahead of her.

Izabella went back into her room and sat on her bed, shuddering against the chilly air. She was having an internal battle with herself, chewing her lip and frowning. Eventually she sighed, yanking a jumper out of her wardrobe and pulling it over her head as she ran down the corridors as quietly as possibly.

“Fizzing Whizzbee,” she said impatiently to the gargoyle, jumping onto the
stair case and running to the door. She knocked quickly then burst into the room.
“Harry-”
But he had gone. Izabella's shoulders drooped and she looked up at Dumbledore sat behind his desk. He hadn't acknowledged her, but was looking at the desk, his expression thoughtful yet concerned.

“Izabella.” McGonagall said reproachfully from beside Dumbledore, her face stern.
“I'm sorry.” Izabella said breathlessly. “I need to see Harry.”
At the desperation in her voice, Dumbledore looked up and spoke kindly.
“He's fine. They're with Sirius.”
Izabella whimpered quietly and looked at the floor, running a hand through her hair and wiping away the tear that fell down her cheek.

“You can see them both soon. Term ends in two days-”
“I need to go now.” said Izabella, raising her voice slightly as she interrupted Dumbledore. He tilted his head slightly to one side.
“Two days Izabella.” he said in a deep firm voice. Izabella gave him a stony look for a moment, then sighed.
“Okay.” she said quietly.

“What is going on?” came a high-pitched voice from the doorway. Umbridge entered the office, looking between them all with a raised eyebrow.
“I have been informed that Arthur Weasley has been seriously hurt and so have sent his children and Harry home to-”
“Harry Potter?” Umbridge asked, her voice cold.
“Yes Dolores.” Dumbledore said pleasantly.
“How does this matter concern him?”
“Arthur is practically his family,” Izabella said glaring at Umbridge.

“They cannot leave school before term ends!” Umbridge said, her voice becoming higher as it became louder.
“They can and they have Dolores. Now I think we all need to get some rest, it is getting late.” Dumbledore said firmly. Umbridge tried to protest but was herding out by McGonagall. Izabella rolled her eyes then looked back at Dumbledore.

“Take care of yourself.” he said gently, looking at her through sad eyes. Izabella sighed and nodded.

“'Night.” she said glumly as she left the office and returned to her room. Her bed was as cold as ice, but she couldn't sleep anyway. Concerned about Harry and needing to see Sirius, Izabella lay awake, watching the night drift into morning through the window. As the light from outside the window brightened, she dragged herself out of bed and dressed quickly, her head fuzzy with tiredness and her stomach in knots.
