CHAPTER THREE: "There is a girl asleep on the couch"

Scorpius's PoV

I went to bed with a lot to think about, and I thought it was crazy. I had just become best friends with a girl I couldn't even see. See? That sounded pretty crazy. She had opened up me, and I told her things that I knew would be near impossible for me to do, but I didn't regret it. In fact, I was glad.

That night I had a strange dream, I only remember it because I kept seeing a pair of eyes, a misty blue. Sparks just seemed to fly from the eyes, but that was all I could remember from the dream...The dream probably only stuck with my memory because of what I was met with when I went down stairs.

I woke up to the sun rising, which was was a major pain in the but because of how late I stayed up the night before. I yawned, revealing my straight white smile and bad morning breath. Once I got dressed, brushed my teeth, and did absolutely nothing with my perfect blonde hair, I hurried down to the common, eager to get an early breakfast, maybe go flying with Bethany until classes. Being a Malfoy, I was blessed with good looks with the hassle of trying, not that I cared either way,

My plans however crumbled when I skidded to a halt in the common room, ready to find and wake my invisible friend. My crumbled plans were because I was greeted by the sight of a girl sound asleep on the common room couch.

Said girl had thick, wavy, light brown hair, looked about the same as me (okay fine, probably an inch taller then me...or two..), but that was to be expected as I had not yet hit my growth spurt yet (A fact I constantly had to bring up around some of my taller companions). The fact that threw me, was that she was dressed in muggle clothing. Plain jeans, even though they seemed rather short on her, and a light blue hoodie with some American logo on it.

She, Scorpius couldn't help but think, is kinda pretty....

"Why," I began to myself, "there is a girl asleep on the couch, I would like to know."

Another thought struck me. That was the couch Bethany usually slept on, so that was probably sleeping on Bethany.

I stood there, dumbfounded as to what to do, that is, until her eyes flickered open.

Bethany's PoV:

I had slept well, having fallen asleep almost as soon as Scorpius had left.

That morning I woke up, stayed lying down for a moment, then sat up, stretching. I yawned quietly, and looked around.I saw Scorpius standing there, gaping at me. Well, I reasoned with myself, he isn't gaping AT me...Wait a second..

I stood up, his eyes followed mine, I felt my heart quicken. I stepped over to the right, his eyes still followed mine.

"Oh my word..." I whispered, "Scorpius? You can...you can see me?"

Now his eyes widened even larger, so large I thought that soon I would see a pair of blue-green eyes rolling towards me, "Beth...Bethany?!"

I was speechless. First he could hear me (via train). Then he could feel me (via running into each other). Now he could see me. I took a step forward, his eyes still stayed on mine, "Ohmiword, ohmiword, ohmigish, ohmigosh, OH MY GOSH!" I ran forward and hugged him, now just way too happy for my own good. Of course, I figured, no one other the Scorpius could probably see me, but this was still huge.

Slowly his arms went up around me, and we stood there for a second until, "Scorpius?" Yolanda Zabini stepped into the common room, I started laughing. What an idiot Scorpius must have looked like right at that moment, especially since no one could see me, other then Scorpius. "What, I dare ask, are you doing?" Yolanda flipped her shoulder length black hair out of her face (Although, really, it wasn't in her face..)

"I'm..." he began, he looked at me for help.

I noticed her flipping her hair again, "Uh, compliment her on her hair," I advised, it was not obvious the Yolanda wanted to get Scorpius's attention, I think she was attempting to flirt, but I must say she was doing horrible, plus Scorpius would never go for her, but I didn't get why I cared if he did or not.

He raised his eye brow at me, but obviously couldn't think of anything else to say, "Yolanda? Did you do something with your hair? It looks very nice today."

I blinked, and hid my emotions. WOW could he be sweet if he wanted, his voice had seemed to drip with honey, he could make ALMOST any girl melt in his hand.

Yolanda blushed and began to twirl her hair, "Oh not really, I just brushed it a bit is all."

"Liar," I muttered. I could see the burn mark on the back of her neck where she had used a straighter.

"What are you doing up so early this morning?" Yolanda asked Scorpius, batting her too-long eye lashed and smiling with her too-cute dimples.

Scorpius shrugged and gaver her a friendly smirk, "I was thinking of getting some practice out on the broom, you know, get ready for the upcoming season. They need me if we ever want to win against Albus and the rest of his team."

"Oh that's right, I forgot you were on the team, but how could I forget with that spectacular catch you made last year during the last game..."

At that point I tuned out, I turned to Scorpius, "I'm going to wander around," I told him, not really caring if he knew or not. He didn't even look at me, but he held up his thumb behind his back. I walked out of the common. I didn't know where I wanted to go, but anywhere was better then with the two in there.

I decided I would go to the headmistresses office, I knew where it was from first year, because of how often William would be there, settling things about my "disappearance".

When I arrived I simply walked past the Gargoyles and through the wall ( a perk of the invisible thing...) then up the spiral stairs. I entered the office, "Hello Portraits," I told them, knowing they couldn't hear me. I sat on the Headmistresses chair for a bit, looked around, and then I spotted it. The sorting hat.

Having disappeared before my sorting I was placed in a house, I have just drifted. There was the sorting hat, sitting a shelf, just sitting there. It was about level with the top of my head, which was perfect. Now yes I realized that I could not physically pick up the sorting hat, as was a downside of this invisible thing, but I had figured that out. Of course, there was no knowing for sure if it would work or not. But I had to try.

I stepped into the shelf. Just remember that I can step into walls, well this shelf was no different. I stepped into it, and positioned myself so I was just under the sorting, standing on my tiptoes, I could make it so my head fit into the sorting hat.

Now just visualize this. Me, stepping in a bookshelf, so I am literally in the book case, standing on my tip-toes so I could fit my head a sorting hat that I could not physically pick up.

I jumped when I heard a voice coming from the hat...I was stunned. It had actually worked.

"Miss Stone," said the voice, "The Invisible Girl, I was wondering when you would show up..."

"How do you know.." I was going to finish with, 'me', but that seemed a pointless question to ask, especially since it could probably read my thoughts. So instead I thought, "What house I am in, or rather, what house am I supposed to be in?"

"You are loyal, loyal to your friend, to your family, mostly to your brother," the hat went on, "but brave too, also very smart, especially for a girl who has been quite tardy from school.."

I wasn't nervous like most people being sorted, probably because it didn't matter much, not like I was really attending the school. I just wanted to feel like I belonged somewhere, so I can be rooting, silently, for my house.

"You seem to have the Slytherin mark on you though, must have been spending some time in there too.." the hat continued on, "You are hard girl, hard to place..."

I understood that, how couldn't I be hard to place, if no one could find me in the first place? "Why not have you follow in your brother's foot-steps. Gryffindor it shall be!"

The hat called out now, loudly, "GRYFFINDOR!"

All of the portraits glared at the hat, "Humph, why I never, a sleep talking hat...." I heard one utter. Chuckling to myself, I made my escape from the office.

Now I knew where I would stay each night, no more drifting fro place to place. I was digging my roots into Hogwarts and it would take a lot to get me to leave...
