Time stopped the moment Ron finished his sentence. The basilisk fang she had been holding fell to the ground, but she didn’t hear the noise it made as it hit the cobblestone. She didn’t hear anything right now. Not the sound of explosions. Not the sound of people screaming hexes at one another. Nothing. Everything was silent and there was only her and Ron.

Rushing over to him, she threw her arms around him and finally let go of all her hesitation as she pressed her lips against his. She thought she heard the sound of something else hitting the ground, but all concern went away when she felt Ron’s arms wrap around her as he responded to her bold lioness action.

She felt the most alive she had ever been in this moment and she had to laugh to herself that it had been this moment, in the heat of battle, that they had finally shared their first kiss . Right now, in this moment, Hermione was sure that she could produce a patronus strong enough to fight off a million dementors. All because Ron said he wanted to save the house elves.
