“Quickly!” Hermione demanded as she leaned over Ron’s body. Looking over her shoulder again, she thrust her hand out in frustration. What was taking Harry so long? Ron couldn’t afford to wait.

Hermione’s hands were trembling so much that it was a wonder she was able to hold on to the tiny vile of Essence of Dittany. She had shook even more as she applied the brown liquid to Ron’s wounds, so much in fact that she felt as though she were going to faint right there on the spot. The only thing that prevented her from doing so was that he was depending on her. Pouring three drops onto Ron’s and green smoke bellowed from where the liquid hit his flesh.

“What happened?”

“Ron got splinched…” Hermione replied sadly swallowing back her tears and resting her hand on the red head’s forehead. How could she have let this happen to Ron? He was covered in blood, and all because of her mistake. The desire to faint was still strong as she gazed down at his pale body. “Tergeo,” she whispered through the tears as the blood on Ron’s clothing and skin slowly vanished. “I’m sorry…”
